Colorized video from 1890s

Fascinating to see this footage in color. It’s also sobering to think that every single person in this montage of clips is dead now. In fact, most of them probably died over 30 years ago. I wonder how many voted for Biden a couple weeks ago? 🙂

But seriously, watching this mesmerized me. All these people had lives. They had friends and family. They worked and played. They had pet dogs. They ate dinners, they laughed together. They probably thought society and technology could not ever get any better than it was right then.

Isn’t that crazy? Normal for them was elaborate and layered wardrobes, horses as a common means of transportation, walking around with umbrellas… on sunny days. It’s just amazing to see how this footage being colorized makes me feel something so much different than when it’s just black and white. Does it make you feel any differently? Comment below!
