Springer Mountain – start of the Appalachian Trail

The dogs and I can finally say/bark that we’ve done part of the AT and while that is something, it’s only a LITTLE something: We did just about a mile one way… hiking up from the Springer Mountain parking lot to the top of Springer Mountain! This is in Georgia, north of Atlanta. It was on a Friday so the very few people we saw might have been a reflection of it being a week day. Here are pictures from our hike. The dogs seemed to love it and honestly, the most time-consuming part was just getting to the parking lot… from the main road it’s then 6 miles of a gravel, bumpy, curvy road. But you should try it if you have the chance! Once you get to the top there are a plaques to confirm you’re in the right spot, and it’s a BEAUTIFUL view!
