My three favorite words

Sitting on the bleachers, wiping sweat off my forehead. Resting for a few minutes before someone calls out, “Run it back?” These are words I love to hear. You thought the three words were going to be “I love you,” didn’t you? Gosh, you were way off. “Run it back” is a phrase often heard when folks are playing sports and a game just ended. Everyone is getting drinks, maybe chatting, using the restroom if there is one.

It’s time for the next game so whoever’s sticking around jumps in for another round of competition.

When you WANT to play again, hearing this phrase is music to your hears. When you’re hoping to cool down and go home, this phrase is the last thing you want to hear. And inevitably, they are one player short so they need you to step in to play. OK, OK, one more!
