Danny DeVito is the star power in a series of Jersey Mike’s commercials. You’ve probably seen a few of them but in case you haven’t, here’s my least favorite.
Why is he stealing a sub from another customer? A rich, well-known actor can afford a sub, right? It’s just weird. Maybe I just don’t get his humor, but I haven’t laughed at any of the DeVito commercials yet. There are a couple more of the ads below, all aiming at a laugh from the viewer. This isn’t the first time Jersey Mike’s has produced a commercial that misses the mark for me. Last year they had one titled, “Resume,” in which a turkey was proud to be sliced up for a sandwich. I wrote more about it in my review here, but in a nutshell it would be a cold day in Hades before a wild animal would be happy to die and get eaten.

The commercials are horrible. He creeps me out. The obsession of watching with a set of opera glasses is somewhat perverted. He looks to be getting aroused, which in itself is not a good marketing approach to selling submarine sandwiches.
It is only in this land of abundant opportunity could an unattractive, diminutive troll make a respectable living spanning a career where they were not funny. This applies to Devito too, although I had segued to his wife for an instant.

It really creeps me out when he’s peeking through the hole in the wall to watch the workers make a sandwich. Norman Bates flashback. And, he’s always been annoying. Just don’t get the attraction for jersey mike (aren’t they the same company that hired the pedo, or was that subway?). Pervs and cold cuts. Now that’s creepy.

I love Jersey mike’s #17, but DeVito is such a eunuch I lose my apetite when these commercials come on! Why would they choose a 3′ tall gnome? Creepy. They need to take a hint from Subway and pick an athelete, not a 77 y/o has been. Twins was it for me. Terrible choice.
