Viewers are divided on a recent commercial from Liberty Biberty Mutual Insurance. The ad stars soap opera actor Tanner Novlan (@tannernovlan_). He was Dr. Finn on “The Bold and the Beautiful” but he’s becoming known as the Liberty Biberty guy especially since he just won’t let it go that it’s not actually Biberty! Here he is arguing with a toddler about it in a recent commercial. Three questions… 1) do you think this is funny; 2) do you think the kid in the stroller is 2 years old; and 3) can you donate $1 to help me keep posting every day at 1pm central?
We all know it’s pronounced Liberty and we all know that ain’t no 2-year-old! What else is this woman hiding, right!? If I had to guess, based on what we can see, that child is 5 years old at the youngest. So why wouldn’t they just say that, or actually have a 2-year-old in the stroller? It’s a little weird.
I think the commercial is fine if we don’t dig too deep. The aforementioned age thing, and I haven’t mentioned that in one of the first few Liberty Biberty commercials, the guy says “Biberty” on accident, it’s a gaffe. It’s not that he thinks the brand is actually called Liberty Biberty. But now this ad clearly suggests that the spokesman thinks the right word is “Biberty.” It’s inconsistent with previous ads and for that reason alone, it’s a fail.
What are your thoughts?

Reading a newspaper; especially by someone 40 or younger makes this commercial seems outdated.

This commercial is totally awful – I mute my tv when it comes on – glad others feel the same!,

This is an absolutely beautifully considered advert. It is funny and I think very effective. The whole purpose of an advert is to make you think about the product. What are we doing? Talking about it. And for that matter, some are very emotional about it. Great to the Advertising Agency…:)

Every time I watch this commercial I think these are not the legs and feet of a 2 year old baby.

This commercial makes me nauseated when it comes on. It makes me want to invent a time machine just so I can go back and stop Liberty Mutual from ever existing.

An overgrown annoying older kid in a stroller that’s too small for them. The whole commercial is a train wreck!! The other two actors are super annoying also.

I do not think this commercial is funny at all! When an adult cannot pronounce the word properly and then talk down to a child who is saying it correctly is ridiculous!

I love this commercial. The baby voice is great. I think an insurance company with a sense of humor is a good think.

hi! You must be new to Earth! I just wanted to drop in and let you know that this is not at all what a human child sounds like.

I would simply remind everyone that this is a commercial. It is not a snapshot of reality. To be upset of offended is to give your sense of humor away.

Get rid of the commercial it’s annoying! A grown man arguing with a two year old and what is their relationship? Father daughter/ stranger daughter. I hate commercials that demean children.

At first this commercial irritated me a bit, but each time I saw it I liked it more & more. Especially the version where baby hurls her sippy cup at the guy on bench taunting her w/”Bibberty”.
I think this commercial is BRILLIANT . . It’s a mind sticker; I just love that little girl’s laugh, her kicking little shoes (ok 5 yr old feet . . who cares?) I now walking around & sometimes blurt out “LIBERTY !!😂🤣” just bc it feels good & it makes me laugh. People are over analyzing it here too, imo. Point is its a simple mind-sticking adorable comedy that makes you laugh, albeit sophomoric. Lighten up & enjoy !! Well done LIBERTY!!! 😂🤣😂💖💖👏👏

The Liberty commercials are the stupidest ones on tv. The real losers though are those that actually buy Liberty insurance based on these commercials. I like to think I have a sense of humor but how anyone could find these commercials funny blows my mind.

Tanner Novlan is very funny, and his voice is beautiful! I don’t think that the baby and the size of of his feet have to be overanalyzed! The commercial does it’s job! By being funny, it makes one want to see it, and that keeps the commercial in your thoughts!

I think the commercial has done it’s job, I guess, since we are talking about it. What strikes me about insurance commercials in general is that they never actually discuss their services or product lines. They just sell them by trying to be funny.

You’re right. I guess they think humor is better than boring us with details, which may or may not be true haha.
