A Triathlon Update – Unexpected Twists

I definitely didn’t predict 2025 correctly. As last year was ending, I’m sure was getting excited about an upcoming year of triathlon training and exercise. Actually, wait a second… both of those things have come true. Well, that’s pretty cool. I joined a gym and have been exercising pretty regularly. I’ve been training, too. The ironic part is that with all the workouts and training sessions, I’ve only participated in 2 races all year and only one of those was a triathlon. What the!?!?!

Now it’s nearly October and no races are on my calendar for the remainder of the year. On the one hand, that’s a bummer but on the other hand, I do still have the desire to race. So I’m glad this year’s mostly dry spell isn’t because I’ve lost interest. Plus, the training is good for me even if there’s no race to go along with it. My current situation is mostly making sure I can get back into running, swimming, and cycling after hurting my knee almost a month ago. I thought I’d recover quickly and maybe I would’ve if I was 20 yrs old. Just this week, 3.5 weeks after the pain started, I’ve been able to run distances I’m familiar with. So that’s good. I would even have a race coming up in 2 weeks had I signed up on time. As it is now, it’s sold out and the waitlist is full.

So it looks like it’ll be more working out and more training for the foreseeable future. When the next race comes along, it’ll be great to feel the rush of “race day” again!
