Posting daily at 1pm central about all kinds of things. One day it's dating, the next it's TV commercials. I hope you're entertained. Professional photos on SmugMug – https://benwilder.smugmug.com
Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan did such justice to the Star-Spangled Banner. Clocking in at 2:17, what did you think about their stripped-down performance?
And just for the good feels, here are two more great performances of the Star-Spangled Banner from Whitney Houston and OneRepublic.
Dr. Squatch Soap Company is smelling like roses in this Super Bowl ad featuring actor/comedian James Schrader. The commercial opens with actor Mike Longsdale showering with a rubber ducky and bland soap. He’s interrupted by a real man who uses real soap and he really wants us to try it.
The ad was produced by San Diego-based Raindrop Agency. They teamed up with Dr. Squatch a few years ago and raised the bar (of soap) on their advertising game. Here’s the first video they produced, with over 114 million views since 2018.
I am 42 years old, some would call that young but I’m here to say that I can’t name one hit from The Weeknd. He’s performing the halftime show in the Super Bowl game between the Tampa Bay Tombrady’s and the Kansas City Chiefs. Word on the street is he’s going to play a medley of his #1 song. Song. Singular. How many hits does this guy have, anyway?
I was surprised to hear he was headlining halftime but, like I said I’m old, and me not understanding this choice might be more of a reflection on me than it is on The Weeknd. Will this halftime show go down as one of the greatest? I have my doubts, but until that is decided, here is a list of my favorite halftime shows. Do you have a favorite not on this list? Comment below.
U2 after September 11th, 2001. Tragedy strikes America and it’s reflected in moving tributes in the unforgettable performance from U2.
2. The man, the myth, the Prince. His was an amazing show. Honestly, I didn’t appreciate his talent and legacy back then, but now that I’m older (have I mentioned I’m old yet?), I can understand the magnitude of this rainy performance that just could NOT be stopped.
I think the list of my least favorite shows would be a lot longer, but for now we’ll leave it on a positive note.
What do you think of The Weeknd performing in this championship game? Did he hit a homerun*?
*Obligatory lame baseball joke for a football game.
Tide has released a funny ad featuring the face of George Costanza Jason Alexander. Check it out.
As noted in People.com, “Seinfeld fans may also notice something familiar in the ad — the track played in the spot, the theme song from The Greatest American Hero, was parodied on Seinfeld as George Costanza’s answering machine message.” Here is the answering machine message from Seinfeld, playing off the song by Joey Scarbury (“Believe it or Not”).
As of now, this hoodie is not available for purchase, although Instagram influencer itshafu was sent a hoodie to promote through her photos.
And Haley Pham was also sent a hoodie. So they DO exist 🙂
The ad was produced by Saatchi & Saatchi, along with Tide’s in-house production team, Woven.
Actors in this ad are Michael B. Jordan, along with actors playing a married couple being wrecked by the all-new sexy Alexa. The wife loves it. The husband… not so much.
The music in the background is “The Most Beautiful Thing” by Bruno Major.
Amazon also did an integrated marketing thing by promoting a new Tom Clancy movie starring Michael B. Jordan. If you missed it, here’s the decal covering an entire bus.
“Without Remorse” as a book came out in 1993 but the movie is scheduled to premiere February 26, 2021 exclusively on Amazon Prime.
