Bad drivers and my dramatic experience with one

I came across another driver in Nashville that thought he owned the road. It wasn’t this guy, though:  NERD ALERT: It was me! I’m actually pretty embarrassed by what I did. I’ve decided to punish myself by exposing my mistake to the world. I’ll explain more after you see the dash cam video, here:  Explanation: When I’m driving, I can be a bit short-tempered. I don’t have a high tolerance for people who are indecisive, make the wrong decisions, or mess with my agenda in any way. It’s a fault, I know. I’m working on it, and that’s mostly why I decided to upload my embarrassing act on YouTube; to publicly shame myself. As you can see in the video, the lady in front of me needed to change lanes. I assumed she was about to miss a left turn and didn’t want to simply go down to the light and make her way back properly. So I let her have it, laying on the horn for nearly 5 full seconds!

Who does that?

Then, to ice the cake, I decided to pull out ahead of her. That’ll teach her a lesson! I did so, as you saw in the video, and very quickly realized the reason she was stopped: the third lane was being used as street parking! I was so embarrassed and full of shame. Instead of teaching her a lesson, I got schooled on being a jerk, judging too quickly, and acting like a real idiot. Ironically, the song playing on my stereo was GNR “Patience.” What scares me about this: I wasn’t even mad, so this must be habit. Ayiyiyiyiyiyiyiyi I need to change!

Whoever you were, lady driver on West End, I’m sorry. I was wrong and I know that.

What happens when you don’t let your dog hump your leg

Turns out humping doesn’t just happen in Tone Loc songs. One of my dogs has this weird obsession with a stuffed heart. She’s adored it since she was a puppy. But the situation got out of hand (she was humping it all the time) so I hid it about 3 years ago. I forgot about the heart until I recently found it.

I thought to myself, “She’s matured, she won’t act like the cheese block in those Cheese-It commercials.”

I was wrong. The reunion was a tear-jerker. But now she’s back to humping. It wouldn’t be so bad, except that she tries to latch onto my leg while she’s doing it! So yesterday as I pushed her away, one of her little dew claws did this: wpid-img_20150914_163452051.jpgI don’t think it’s difficult to see that she totally scratched half my shin, the little punk! And it hurt! I guess it could be worse, though. Like finding out Sheena was a man! Yowza!

A brand new Etsy product!

IMG_20150904_173031350I’ve been waiting by the door like a faithful labrador for the mailman to deliver the latest revision of my brand new product, The Shades Hanger. Well, they arrived and now they are ready to be shipped to whoever wants one! I am selling them, of course, because I need to have money to feed my dogs. I eat rice, but their food is primo pricey! OK, anyway, check out The Shades Hanger by clicking any of the highlighted words in this post. I made it so easy for you to buy one, and honestly, if I can be serious for a second, it would really mean a lot to me if something I designed made your life easier, even if it seems trivial like storing your sunglasses while you aren’t wearing them. I’m very excited for you to try it and I would sincerely be grateful. Definitely let me know your feedback in the comments below, if you choose to be part of this adventure with me. OK, I’m done being serious… go buy one for yourself and another for your mom! 235IMG_20150904_173031350IMG_20150904_173225490IMG_20150904_173341489_HDRIMG_20150904_173445086-Out of the Wilderness

Ruby Amanfu performance in Nashville

I recently got the chance to experience the amazing voice and endearing personality of Ruby Amanfu at The High Watt in Nashville.IMG_20150829_212154666The first time I heard she was half of the duo Sam & Ruby, singing songs my friends and I loved instantly. She had a great voice then, and guess what, now is no different. The proof is in her brand new solo album, Standing Still. But let me warn you, you’ll end up either dancing, crying, or just completely jealous that you can’t sing like her. Additionally, you’ll also be smiling.

There are 10 songs on the album, and she performed them for a packed audience Saturday night. They were all met with applause, but it was Not Dark Yet that yielded an extended and noisy approval. She has a real talent for telling the story behind the songs, and the story for Not Dark Yet is a good one.

I think the moment I’ll remember most, though, is the story she told about her song, I Tried. She talked about her family, her boyfriend, who were all at the show. But in a brief moment of silence between thoughts, her sister offered up an “I love you,” and it was sweet. Then Ruby went on to sing the song, every once in a while glancing over with a smile to her sister. Somebody recorded that particular song, so you’re lucky enough to see it here:

Good show, Ruby!
