Cocaine Bear… I watched all of it.

If you haven’t heard yet, Cocaine Bear is the name of a real movie about a real story from the 1980s. The trailer easily caught my attention so I knew sooner or later I’d be watching the movie. One week I watched Jesus Revolution (review here) and the following week I went to see the drugged up bear.

What I like most in movies is when they have a little bit of everything: humor, action, mystery, thrills. Cocaine Bear passes that test. It also has some blood and gore, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about watching it. I came away feeling entertained yet a slight feeling of disappointment. I guess I wanted, or expected, more of a bigger story or more details in the main plot. But there were some good laughs and some tense action, too. I suppose we shouldn’t have high expectations for the crazy story it is, so with that in mind it’s worth a watch just for entertainment alone.

I don’t know if this was the intention but by the end of the movie I was cheering for the bear. What can I say, I love wildlife. I’ve never seen a bear in real life and if I do, I certainly hope it hasn’t already snorted cocaine. To end on a less violent note, here are a few of my favorite photos of wildlife from my camping travels recently…

See you tomorrow…
