There’s an iPhone commercial out now with one of the most psychedelic songs I’ve heard in a commercial. It’s hard to even explain, so check out the ad then scroll down for more about the song…
The Music. The song is called “Karangailyg Kara Hovaa (Dyngyldai)” by Yat-Kha. I’ve included the full track below but be warned: it will stick with you. Not that you’ll be singing the lyrics (because what are they??) but the melody and the peculiar voice will be in your head for hours if not days!
I’m not even sure what kind of playlist this would be added to, but you can find the song on Spotify, too.
The throaty song was released in 1995. The band is from Tuvla, which is part of the Russian republic. Their name is derived from the instrument similar to a zither.

Yat-Kha is one of the founding members of Huun Huur Tu. They have put out several albums but their breakthrough was 1994’s The Orphans Lament. It was very popular on alternative and community radio when it was released.
