Snow White and the Red Lines

Nashville boasts it’s first snow of winter today! Yes, it’s something special. A sight to behold. Unfortunately, if you’re in the car, you’ll have plenty of time to behold.

Son: Look, mommy, it’s a Christmas map!
Mommy: No son, that’s traffic. And even if Santa was real, he’d be stuck on I-24 till January!
Son: Wait, what?

This is what happens in Nashville when it snows. Flurries is all it takes!

Bo Knows Baseball: A Redolent Recount from the Men’s Room

dentist

“Brush the ones you want to keep.”

This clever advice was given to me during my last dentist visit. The odd thing about it is, it’s working! I keep on brushing the teeth I want to keep and so far, I’ve been able to keep them all. It’s awesome. I’ve even started brushing my teeth after lunch at work. That whole routine is still a bit awkward for me (and for those who have to witness it). But as long as I can get out of the bathroom before someone drops a big one, I’m good to go! Can you imagine brushing your teeth, which obviously forces you to breathe through your nose, then that big hairy guy from the 5th floor comes in to “talk to a guy about a dog”? A scent so thick your nose may clog. And you can’t get that band out of your head… Needtobreathe. Or the popular catchphrase from 20 years ago, “Bo Knows Baseball.” Knows. Nose. What is that smell? Did he have Greek for lunch or something? It’s just too much to stomach so you run out foaming at the mouth. I guess the water fountain will have to do.

My First Real Job

The first real job I had- you know, the kind that include benefits- it was in Tallahassee, Florida. I was a purchasing specialist for Mainline Information Systems. The company deals in computer hardware, software, the size of which can run companies. Looking back I wouldn’t trade that job for any other at that point in my life. Why? Because I learned a lot, and barely any of it was about computers.

Friends there that I still talk to today. Ping pong matches at lunch. A soundtrack I got to make for a team-building event. Whole conversations only using emoticons. Chic-Fil-A breakfasts on Wednesdays.

Good memories! Darn it, now I’m hungry for a chicken biscuit.
