Everything is finally fully backwards

I believe the first time I heard the concept prompting the post today was from radio talk show host Michael DelGiorno (Twitter: @DelgiornoMDG) when I lived in Nashville, Tennessee. Besides the treasure trove of spiritual wisdom he brought to radio for 3 hours every single week day– except when Nashville traffic on I-65 made him late– he spoke in depth about politics and the wide angle view of the direction of the country, along with specifics too, of course. The idea is this: Culture is so radical now, the only radical thing left to do is be conservative. Or if you really want to be countercultural, become a Christian.

It made sense back then, years ago when I first heard the insight. It’s even more applicable in 2024 and all the stuff about JD Vance being “weird” is a great example. He has a wife. He has kids. As far as I know he doesn’t have tattoos. A run of the mill white guy. This is weird to the Democrats. Why? In their world: men can be women, women can be men, there are thousands of genders, truth is subjective. There’s his truth, her truth, their truth, our truth. All that’s left for them is to call weird normal and normal weird.

Just look at tattoos. Not that long ago it was pretty rebellious to have visible tattoos. Go way back and it was something only associated with prisoners and street gangs. Now my sister who doesn’t even know what OnlyFans is has one on her ankle. Today when you’re out, count how many adults DON’T have tattoos. In this modern era, those people are the rebels. They’re the ones going against the grain. They’re the “weird” ones.

All that to say, Democrats as a whole have become so radical, all that’s left for them to do to be radical is to return to old-fashioned concepts. It’s why something as traditional as “joy” is their theme for the 2024 election cycle. More on that thinly veiled lie here. They’re jumping up and down for hope and joy and the American flag and the military because they’ve pretty much reached the boundary of radical thinking. Now they’re swinging back because that’s all they can do. What’s bad is now good. What’s good is bad. Up is down. Down is up.

Normal is weird.
