The Amazon Little Red Riding Hood Ad – The Actress and More!

Amazon is celebrating their service in holiday style with a subtle Christmas-themed commercial. This one plays on a familiar story, Little Red Riding Hood. Take a look then scroll down for more info…

*UPDATE: Who’s the woman behind the British accent in these Amazon ads? Click here*

Sound. The commercial doesn’t feature a song except the last few seconds when “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” begins to play. With that, it’s confirmed that Amazon is now battling Walmart for who advertises Christmas earliest. In fact, I was in Walmart last week (mid-October) and there was already half an aisle full of Christas decor. Sheesh!

The Actress. Thanks a lot to the comment below from “feylisgmailcom” for tracking down the actress playing the part of Little Red Riding Hood. Her name is Mikayla Roberts. Follow her on Instagram: @kikiikale …photo below is from her Instagram feed.

The Wolf. The wolf plays a critical role in this ad but trained wolves can’t be easy to find. Good thing there are professionals out there that do that kind of thing. I went down a little rabbit hole (as a wolf might do?) and found Instinct, a company that focuses on wolves for TV and film. Check out their gallery of wolf snarls and you’ll see that these folks must be good at their job! I don’t know if they were responsible for the wolf in the commercial, but it’s possible.

Other Wildlife. I gravitate towards wildlife in my photography, including some dangerous ones (alligators, bison, and a few others). Below are a few favorites and you can click here to see the entire set of wildlife photos. These are also available for download and purchase. Take a look and I hope you find some you love!

How do you feel about the Amazon commercial? Are they ushering Christmas in too soon? Comment below and thanks for dropping in…

Corona Beer – The Spanish Country Roads Cover Commercial

If you’re like me, you heard the music in this commercial and immediately needed to know more about it. Take a look/listen at Corona’s ad titled “Heritage Anthem” then scroll down for the details!

The song. This is the well-known song “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. But the stripped down, acoustic version in Spanish was a great idea for this ad. The vocals were performed by Adrian Cota (lead vocal), Tito Urias, Ricardo Cota, Thalia Cota, Richie Cota. I love the blend of Spanish and English and that they kept the melody of the original. Before moving on to other great performances of this song, check out Adrian Cota’s music on his website and follow him on Instagram: @AdrianCota

The horses. The ad includes a few clips of horses, one of my favorite creatures! In fact, whenever I have a chance to take pictures of them, I do. Here are a few of my best photos which are available for purchase/download in my Wildlife Gallery.

Other covers. There are countless covers of “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” but here are two you need to hear…

A crimson flood, huh? A story of bad song lyrics.

You might hear the word “crimson” and think of the Alabama Crimson Tide, especially during college football season. But what the title of this post is referring to is not about football at all. It’s a phrase used in a Sunday church worship song. The lyrics in part go like this…

My life is hidden ‘neath Heaven’s shadow
Your crimson flood covers me

I hadn’t heard the song before so obviously the lyrics were all new to me. While the idea of a sacrifice is central to Christianity, something about “crimson flood” irritated me. Crimson is referring to Jesus’ blood so for one thing, if there was an ACTUAL flood of blood, that would be rather grotesque and by “rather” I mean very, very gross. Just the imagery alone was enough to move this song to the bottom of any list it could possibly be on. Covers me is a great metaphor, a descriptive way of explaining what Jesus did for us on the cross. That leaves the word in the middle… flood. Ain’t nobody gonna get on board with a big ol’ puddle of blood, much less a flood. Just imagine if the lyrics said, “Hundreds of gallons of blood cover me,” it’s the stuff horror movies are made of. I guess in that regard “crimson” is way less morbid.

Then my mind jumped to a delivery I made as a Postmates driver. The customer needed some feminine hygiene products from a nearby drug store so I picked them up. But it wasn’t just the regular tampons. She needed the ones for “heavy flow.” Naturally, she sent a note for me to leave them by her door. Poor woman must’ve been dealing with a crimson flood of her own.

Oura Smart Ring Commercial – Style, Storage, and Scenery

Oura is a tech company that makes smart rings to track health data. A tag line they use is “always wearable,” and they have a commercial boasting about the storage and style of the jewelry in their collection. Take a look then scroll down for more info!

The commercial stars skier Lindsey Vonn and basketballer Chris Paul. There’s also a supporting cast represented in an upscale hotel room and running on a road. This is to show the two sides of this ring – it’s appeal for fashion and it’s usage in exercise. Something I noticed is the location of the joggers.

Realistically speaking, no, they didn’t run up and down those mountains because it’s a commercial. The director got the clip he or she needed and they were outta there! But how about that scenery? The beautiful, mountainous horizon (probably California?) isn’t the only location with this kind of beauty. Here are a few of my favorite photos I’ve taken that include roads and gorgeous backdrops. The following images and my entire portfolio of wildlife, landscapes, and more (located here) are available for purchase and download as one-of-a-kind artwork, so take a look when you get a chance.

Chevy EV Commercial – The Music

Chevrolet has a new commercial featuring their lineup of electric vehicles. Check it out then scroll down for info on the music…

The vehicles shown are the Volt, Blazer, Equinox, and Silverado. Unfortunately, the tiny fine print at the bottom of the ad reads:

“Pre-production products shown throughout. Actual production models will vary. Silverado EV available fall 2023. Equinox EV available spring 2023. Blazer EV SS available fall 2023.”

In other words, right now you can only get a Bolt, which has been the case since 2016/17.

The Music. The soundtrack of this ad is “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac, released in 1987.
