The Brady Gronk T-Mobile ad you won’t see during the Super Bowl – more details!

I just happened to catch this ad on YouTube and for the first time, maybe EVER, I watched the entire ad without skipping ahead. It’s darn funny! Take a look.

In a nutshell… the bad connection between the “former” teammates causes Tom to play another year, but in Tampa Bay, and forces Gronk out of retirement. I love this ad because it is self-deprecating humor on the part of Gronkowski, it’s really clever, and the biggest twist of fate is that they are both in the Super Bowl after just a year with the Bucs. Crazy stuff, right there.

The controversy… surrounding the ad is because this advertises T-Mobile, and that conflicts with the NFL’s deal with Verizon. So the ad will not be airing during the Super Bowl, and that’s too bad because it might have come away with the #1 favorite commercial trophy.

The possible movie reference… has been noted by viewers when Gronk asks his mother where his football pants are, much like Will Ferrell asking for meatloaf in Wedding Crashers. Great movie.

Humor from the GOAT… isn’t something we normally see. TB12 is serious, calculated, typically all business but the line at the end, “…and I’m not soft or weak either!” was a nice way to finish the ad with more laughs.

Tom Brady is wearing… a TB12 shirt in the ad. This is a brand he started in 2013. On their website, they sell fitness equipment, nutrition goods, and apparel.

The date in the ad… shows Brady announcing his move to Tampa Bay on March 17, 2020, but in reality the announcement was made on March 20th.

More about Tom MacDonald: rapper, producer, ….pro wrestler?

There’s Norm Macdonald, Vance McDonald, Ronald McDonald, Jimmy McDonald*, and now welcome to the stage…

Tom MacDonald!

Don’t know who he is? OK, until yesterday I didn’t either. I was researching which artists in iTunes All-Songs Top 10 have used the N-word — the answer is 2 of the 4, for sure — Morgan Wallen and Justin Bieber. Rounding out the artists dominating the top 10 spots are the aforementioned two, plus Olivia Rodrigo and Tom MacDonald.

Right, you might have noticed only 4 artists are in the top 10. That’s mostly because Morgan Wallen used the N-word recently and now a lot of his songs have risen to the top of this iTunes list, and the iTunes country chart. Peppered among the songs is one called “Fake Woke” by Tom MacDonald.

You see, I was wanting to put a post together pointing out that most of the artists on the iTunes list had used the N-word and they were somehow at the top of the chart. Morgan Wallen? Check. Justin Bieber? Check. After looking at a picture of Tom MacDonald and his tattoos, I was prepared to add a big ol’ check mark next to his name! That would leave innocent and young Olivia as the sole soul who’s not an a$$soul. Get it? Gosh, I’m funny.

But then it happened. I watched the “Fake Woke” video. If you think you’re ready, check it out.

This led to me spending 3,291 hours watching more of his videos. Turns out, he specifically and intentionally skipped over saying the N-word in one of his songs. Drats! That totally ruins the point I was going to make about artists topping the chart have all said the N-word and somehow… their songs are… not dropping… they’re… boosted? I don’t get the charts at all anymore. I thought it was about which executive at a label owed a favor or promised something to someone so they popped their artist up to #1 for a spell.

Oh wait, that’s award shows. My bad.

In Morgan Wallen’s case (for more on that click here), I think everyone’s surprised that it was the N-word that might ruin his career and not his mullet. But the real surprise is that his career might not be ruined at all, based on the charts which have a ton of his songs bunched up at the top. I wonder if the record labels are rejecting the dirty money coming in from this recent boost in sales, hmmm?

Morgan’s fans are loyal and –in opposition to what we’re hearing on the news and in all the statements from record labels, TV channels, music promoters, and fellow country artists– the “regular people” have their own thoughts about it all.

Wait, so normal every-day people might think differently from the news, entertainment, and social media celebrities??? This certainly cannot be. We’ve been told for years how to think and what to believe and who to boycott and who to praise. Duh, stop thinking for yourself people!

OK, back to Tom MacDonald. Talk about thinking for yourself. He raps with lyrics that would make Nancy Pelosi roll over in her grave (sorry, she just looks like she died 2 months ago, but doesn’t know it yet). I’m sure she’ll hate him for two reasons– he calls out liberal stupidity, and his last name has “Donald” in it.

Anywhos, I’ve heard a lot of cheesy “conservative” music, mainly just satirical songs but Tom’s is anything but corny. He actually sounds really good, don’t you think? I’m not sure where he came from or where he’s going but as of today, I’m a fan of Tom MacDonald. And Jimmy McDonald**.

Fun fact: Tom used to be a pro wrestler, according to this Facebook post from 2017. I can say from experience, body slams are disorienting, to say the least!

*Jimmy McDonald – a friend of mine who has no affiliation with this post, or any knowledge that this post has been posted by the poster– me.

**The same Jimmy McDonald as mentioned above – a great guy, and a great landlord back in the day.

Tom MacDonald’s Face, Neck, and Forehead Tattoos

There’s a new rapper disrupting the United States. His name is Tom MacDonald and he has a million tattoos. Here are a few, with links to the sources below each picture. Also, if you like this post, consider making a small donation to my site so I can continue posting daily… thank you in advance!!

HOG under his bottom lip stands for “Hang Over Gang.” This is in reference to Tom’s fans. Under his right eye is “2nd Rodeo”…

Dollar signs on his eyelids. Also, his finger tattoos say “Only Fear Your Self”…

Emily and Floralee. Above his left eye is “Emily” and on his left scalp, “Floralee.” He and his sister have a great relationship, and he’s very grateful for her help in his life. She might be the “Emily” tribute in this tattoo. Floralee is still anyone’s guess.

Right arm tattoo. It’s upside down in this pic, but to read it correctly, it would say “Passion.”

On this next one, you can see “2nd Rodeo” more clear, among many others like hooks on his shoulders, “misunderstood” and “kingdom” on his chest.

Right side of face and neck. “If Hip Hop’s Dead, I’m an Angel.”

Liberty Mutual Seagulls Interruption TV Ad: The Actor, the birds, the location, and more!

I saw this ad for the first time recently and laughed my head off. I love the way the actor repeats a long line of dialogue we normally hear in the ads, not knowing he is IN the ad itself! Of course, that’s not the most funny part, but take a look then scroll down for more.

The actor in this spot is David An. He’s been in quite a few movies and TV shows over the years, including the movies Green Book, Rampage, and The 15:17 to Paris, along with TV appearances in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “NCIS,” among others.

David also stars, alongside a hungry seagull, in a short ad within the same campaign…

Where is this bench, though? Well, this isn’t as easy to figure out. I have 3 educated guesses as to where this was shot, “A” and “B” in New York, and then a secret third option…

  • A. Governors Island. The view from this island makes sense with the angle of the Statue of Liberty in the background. But the geography on Governor’s Island (the ground… and the real fence) are not at all consistent with what we see in the Liberty Mutual ad.
  • B. Louis Valentino, Jr. Park and Pier. The railing/fence at this park looks more consistent with the background of the Liberty ad.
  • C. It’s all done in post-production with a green screen.

If I had to pick one, I’d go with choice “C” and they built a set for the ad with a giant green screen in the background. Neither “A” or “B” locations have benches facing AWAY from the ocean (most benches would naturally face out into the ocean, towards Lady Liberty), and the concrete sidewalks are not like the one in the ad. Also, there is no land as close to the Statue of Liberty as the ad makes it feel (and look).

Liberty Mutual has been making funny ads for a while in this particular location with the Statue of Liberty in the background. Here are a few other favorites.

  1. Boring arcade game:

2. Young girl calls magician out:

3. Liberty Biberty:

You can check out the rest of the ads in the Liberty portfolio by going to their YouTube page.

Hypocrisy surrounding Morgan Wallen, and what he should do next

Country singer Morgan Wallen is all over entertainment news, and I literally mean “all over” because weirdly his career seems to be over. He did a no-no by using the N-word in a secretly recorded video when he was in the driveway of his Nashville home. No one I’ve listened to or read articles from has mentioned that he seemed to be telling a friend, in my best guess, to tip the driver well. That’s a good thing, right? But he slipped in the N-word so now his career is apparently falling apart right before our ears.

But there is a gigantic elephant in the room with this story.

First of all, it appears he was most likely repeating lyrics of a song, perhaps one he and his friends had just heard in the car. A quick look at song titles on Spotify with the exact phrase he used…

Yes, that is 9 of first 14 tracks that popped up with song titles of the exact phrase spoken by Morgan Wallen. Will these artists get any backlash from this? Doubtful. Should they? Who knows.

Various awards shows (CMT, ACM, CMA) have pulled Morgan Wallen from any nominations in upcoming programs. Yet these same folks (plus the Grammy Awards) have let Justin Bieber be nominated (and/or win) awards AFTER a video surfaced where Justin used the N-word many times and laughed about it, even joking he might become a member of the KKK.

I don’t know if there is a more well-known pop artist that Justin Bieber, and he’s heard on radio stations and streaming channels all over the world to this day, even after the “shocking” video above. Morgan Wallen has already been pulled from radio, just a few days after the incident.

Saturday Night Live uses the word somewhat often with no real pushback. Here’s an example.

Lastly, the golden child of white people who want to make a point about race is Eminem. He’s white. He has used the N-word in lyrics, although references to this were from decade-old songs. I do think Eminem recognizes the sensitivity of using this word, as he is very careful to not include it in lyrics of more recent tracks.

But the point is still the same… Morgan Wallen is being made an example, mostly by agencies and people just trying to “look good” in the public eye. Other entertainers like Justin Bieber, Eminem, cast members of SNL, and anyone who uses this word in any way, should face the same music, right? They won’t, though, because casting hate towards one single person will be enough to satisfy the appetite of the social justice gods…

…until they become hungry again in about a day.

Then they’ll move on to the next person they want to destroy. Morgan Wallen is in a bad situation, that’s for sure, and yes, he brought it on himself. He will not be welcome in country music for many, many years, if ever. If he wants to save any possible chance of a music career, he’ll crossover to pop and then everything should be golden. (I say this with a bit of sarcasm, but also, yeah, if he goes pop he’ll be fine).
