To brush, or to brush for 2 minutes, THAT is the question

I have an electric toothbrush conveniently positioned right next to my bathroom sink. But don’t ask me when was the last time I used it. The thing is just having it near the sink makes me feel better, even if I haven’t used it in many months. Something about knowing that I CAN use it gives me peace, and every night I reach for the old-fashioned toothbrush.

I’m sure there’s something psychological going on, kind of like buying a home treadmill feels like you’re already losing weight, even before you’ve ever used it.

What is it in your life that fits this kind of false sense of accomplishment?

This 80s song talks about tech that was still decades in the future

Every time I hear this particular song, all I hear is them singing about a popular phone. It’s Def Leppard “Pour Some Sugar On Me”. Check out the first minute and tell me I’m wrong that in the first minute they sing about a “red iPhone”…

Living like a lover with a red iPhone.

If your lover has a red iPhone, treat them to dinner because they dropped at least $700 for that red iPhone. That’s the cheapest new iPhone 11 you’ll find. Check them out here.

Supposedly the actual lyrics are “living like a lover with a radar phone.” But who ever had a radar phone? I think these guys were decades ahead of the tech curve!

Are there any other bands that had lyrics mentioning tech that hadn’t existed yet? Chime in below!

This Eminem song gave me chills…

Everyone, and I mean everyone, would say Eminem’s best song is “Lose Yourself” and rightfully so. It went to #1 on multiple charts in nearly every country on the planet. It’s one of those anthems that, when you hear it, you feel like you could run through a brick wall! Here’s the video, with hundreds of millions of views on YouTube.

But there’s a lesser known song Eminem released in 2014, over a decade after “Lose Yourself,” that never broke the top 10 in the US and around the world was just somewhere in the middle of the charts it appeared on. It has around 123 million views (amazing, but not even close to “Lose Yourself”). Check out a song that gave me full-body chills the last time I listened to it, here’s “Headlights”…

The chorus is performed by Nate Ruess of the band Fun. I had sort of forgotten about this song but while I was returning from a day trip to Memphis, Tennessee, it popped up on my Spotify and like I said, I got chills all over because of the lyrics. So personal, so much pain and hurt, and yet forgiveness and understanding weaved throughout. I can confidently say this song is in my top 5 Eminem songs, and quite possibly #1.

I don’t think there’s any doubt Eminem is the best rapper of our time, and quite possibly the best of all time.

Colleges that will change their mascots in the next 5 to 10 years… probably

I recently put together a list of professional sports teams that might soon be pressured into changing their mascots (click here for that). Not to be outdone, here’s a list of colleges that might suffer the same fate as those professional teams.

Colleges that might change their mascots to be more politically correct:

Florida State Seminoles

North Carolina Tar Heels

Alcorn State Braves

Utah Utes

Central Michigan Chippewas

Mississippi College Choctaws

*Also on this list is any school or team that uses as a mascot, Warriors

There you have it. Do you know of another school that might change their name? Comment with your additions below and as always, thanks for stopping by!

All the professional teams that will change their names in the next 5 to 10 years…probably

In light of the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins changing their name to the Washington Football Team, I want to make it easy for you (because I was wondering this myself) to have a list of all the professional teams (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) that will most likely be changing their names in the next 5 to 10 years to be more politically correct. I’ll also put together a list of major colleges that will be doing the same. Let’s start with the NFL, though…

NFL:

Dallas Cowboys

New England Patriots

Minnesota Vikings

Cleveland Browns

Major League Baseball:

Atlanta Braves

Cleveland Indians

National Hockey League:

Chicago Blackhawks

NBA Basketball:

none

There are a few more I would add to the list of each league if I were being nitpicky (Oakland Athletics… offensive to unathletic people?)… but for now we’ll leave the list as it is.

Do you think these teams will be pressured to come up with new mascots anytime soon? Chime in below with your thoughts.
