A friend of mine asked me a tough question the other day. “If you could only listen to one artist’s entire catalog, who would it be?” Elvis Presley… was my first answer. It’s impossible to only have one answer. Come on. So for current artists, easily my answer is Zac Brown Band. The more I listen to them, the more I appreciate their creativity, their depth, and heck if I don’t say it, they can sing! They’re easily my favorite band and this same friend enlightened me with another great performance from ZBB… their song “Free” combined with Van Morrison’s “Into The Mystic.” Enjoy (plus watch a random family’s vacation photos)!
Ants: The Musical
“And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening.”
Substitute “people” with “black ants” and you have my story. Not nearly as poetic as this Simon and Garfunkle hit, but it’s actually the sound of silence that’s so captivating with these little critters. They appear when I least expect them. They’re not intrusive per se, it’s not like they’re out to wreck my plans. Actually they run away when I disturb their plans. With a recommendation, I brought home some Terro ant bait cartridges and within a day or so, the ants came out in droves. They were on these like a bee on honey.

So that picture isn’t great, but I put two baits near a window and they loooooved it. Now I’m waiting to see if they’ll die off. Fingers crossed!

Wacky Wednesday: The Cup Song from Pitch Perfect
I’m determined to learn how to do the cup song routine this summer. I feel like a middle school girl, but hey, I bet I’d be one of the cool ones for, ya know, knowing how to do this:
Yard Work and a GoPro Camera
I don’t know what it is about yard work that I like so much but man, it’s such a satisfying feeling to look at a yard that’s just been cut. The smell of the grass, a bottle of cold water, it’s manual labor at it’s finest. I guess it’s being able to see the difference that brings about a feeling of accomplishment. A few hours ago it looked like that, and now it looks like this. Yesterday was one of those days for me and getting it all done before lunch really improved the quality of my day. I didn’t have an ounce of guilt by taking an afternoon nap. I didn’t feel bad at all when the only time I left the house was a trip to Sam’s Club.
I cut grass. I ate food. I watched the Heat lose in game 6. It was a good day. Here’s part of the reason:
