Furious 7 and the U

If you have the chance to watch Furious 7, do it. The movie is action-packed and it’s quite remarkable how they kept Paul Walker in the entire film, even up to the very last scene, though he died halfway through production. I wish I read the IMDB trivia before I watched, it would’ve made the movie even more interesting. One scene that triggered a memory for me is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a hospital bed. The scene opens with him there, watching football on the hospital television. The action in the game looked familiar… I guessed it was a clip of Dwayne Johnson playing college ball at the U. When I got home I checked the trivia and confirmed my suspicions. It’s actually #94 Dwayne Johnson on defense for the University of Miami breaking loose to sack Seminole quarterback Charlie Ward. You can see the play in the video below, so watch it, then go watch the movie!

The Smell of Popcorn in the Air

I bet you thought I was at a movie theater, didn’t you? You’d be incorrect! I’m at the Nissan dealership waiting for my car to be almost like new. And by almost I mean never again to be anywhere close to like new. But hey, I should have a couple of new tires, an alignment, balance, all the stuff that goes along with getting 2 new tires. They also found a nail in one of the tires I am keeping. Hoping that won’t be an issue on any upcoming trips. popcornAs I sit here in their wifi zone, the smell of popcorn wafting in front of me, a young child crying/laughing/talking (depending on which minute it is), my thoughts have run all over the place. From my job, to my dating life, to Christmas, the dogs, family, and what all those things blended together means for 2014. My prayer for the year is simple: for God to keep my family safe whether they’re at school, home, church, or anywhere in between. Keep my dogs safe and healthy. Help me to live with love for God and others in my heart, mind, and soul. I want to live with a sense of adventure this year! I want to go hiking a lot. I want to go to the beach. I want to love my job. I want to find true love like a cheesy Hallmark movie. I want to wake up excited about the possibilities of the day. I want to keep in touch with my family, my friends, and watch good movies. I want to watch Florida State win the National Championship. But mostly, I want to hear, “Sir, your car’s ready.”

I Fought the Law and the Law Won

It’s taken me weeks (ok, years) to accept the fact that I stink at fantasy football. Like, really stink! The problem usually starts on draft night. This year I had the 3rd overall pick which is a prime position for picking up a stud player, even in a keeper league. I went with Matt Ryan which, if you care, was a pretty good choice. Then in round 2 everything began to unravel. I picked Shonne Green which, if you care, was a pretty bad choice. The underlying problem is that I coach The Billy Oceans with my heart and not my head! It’s propelled me to a 1-7 record that my head knows is right, and my heart is aching for it. The silver lining this football season is that the Noles are ranked in the top 5 with a chance at a National Title! If only I was part of the group that helps come up with the BCS rankings because this time, my head and my heart agree… FSU is the best team in the country.

Oh, so the reason for the title of this post… law: every time I let my heart influence fantasy football picks, I end up with a terrible record. I tried to prove that wrong this season and, well, the law won.

It’s a rebuilding year I guess,

Book ‘Em, Danno!

After I watched the Florida State Seminoles put a whoopin’ on the Pittsburgh Panthers, something on the screen caught my eye. Take a look below.

Wow, ventilated police caps! Is there any better way for a guy packin’ heat to escape the heat of tropical Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania? I think not! But why don’t both cops get to have one? Is the guy on the right a rookie? Hasn’t paid his dues yet? Is there only one ventilated cap in the precinct and it’s on a rotation?
