“The Man From Toronto” – Were We Supposed to Laugh?

The first thing I noticed about this movie, just in the first 10 minutes, is the editing. I don’t know if they rushed the whole production process or didn’t have enough money in the budget, but with another pass or two before locking in the final film someone would have caught the errors. Or at least, they should’ve! So as trivial as it sounds, these handful of editing mistakes (or overlooks) affected me right away.

Humor. Was the movie funny? I guess I forgot to laugh. I am not exaggerating when I say I didn’t laugh more than 3 times. With Kevin Hart in an action/comedy, you’d expect some laughs, right? The disappointing part in regards to the comedy (or lack of) is that I sincerely believe they tried to include humor. Maybe that’s more of a reflection of the bad writing than the acting. In fact, it’s on display most when Kevin Hart’s character (who is trying to sell himself as the assassin in the movie) drops his knives under the table where those he’s interrogating sit. He bends down, gathers the knives, pops back up and as intimidating as he can try to be asks, “Guess who’s back?” That’s funny because everyone knows the answer is that he’s back. He only disappeared 5 seconds earlier to get the knives. But then a few beats after asking the question, he answers it. “Me. I’m back.” Eye roll.

If I’m being harsh, at least I’m not alone. The Rotten Tomatoes reviews are not so encouraging.

Final Thoughts. I suffered through this movie so you don’t have to. A few scenes notwithstanding, this was one of the least enjoyable Netflix movies. There wasn’t much comedy. If you treat it as an action movie, there wasn’t a whole lot of that either. Woody Harrelson’s assassin character was boring, too.

If you’ve seen it, chime in with your thoughts below. Thanks for dropping in!

Dept of Health’s COVID commercial – The Music and More!

The US Department of Health has a new add urging everyone to get the vaccine and booster shots to keep from getting COVID again. Fear tactics and an emotional song set the stage for this one, take a look then scroll down for more info!

The song in this ad is the acoustic version of Goldford’s “Walk With Me.” Here’s the full track followed by the studio version.

It was also used in a scene from Grey’s Anatomy, below.

So if it’s taken you 2 years to get your shot, maybe…. this song….. has nudged you a little closer to the nearby clinic? Either way, Goldford can be found on Instagram (@iGoldford) so give him a follow! Thanks for dropping in…

Happy Independence Day 2022, in photos

Today, on July 3rd, 2022, all I can think to do is post pictures I’ve taken of the flag and a few other images that remind me of this great country, thinking about those brave men and women who had the vision for a country where freedom is available for all. People who fought to secure that freedom and establish the United States of America. I will always be thankful to them, everyone who’s served in the military for the last two hundred years, and to a God that has blessed this country for decades and centuries, and made a life for me here for 43 years. God bless America! Check back tomorrow for the conclusion of this red, white, and blue portfolio of pictures. Thanks for dropping in…

Drama with my favorite cereal

Have you ever found a particular food you like so much and then notice it disappearing from store shelves? And no I’m not talking about baby formula – thanks Joe! I’m finding empty shelves where Kashi Peanut Butter Crunch cereal used to be. This isn’t the first time a cereal has gone missing, though. I remember this happening with Peanut Butter Toast Crunch. I wrote about it here.

So now this Kashi cereal is hard to find. It was regularly at Walmart. Now I can only find it at Publix and, while I love Publix, it’s a small box at a high price. On top of that, the last box I bought at Publix looked like this…………

You better believed I returned it, mostly out of principle. Who wants to pay for a bag half full of air? Thanks a lot, Joe! The cereal can also be found at Target… for now. When I can get to a Target, this is what happens.

Yeah, I’m obsessed, clearly. And then……………….

Then I found a Walmart that had it in stock, too. Remember those big boxes at cheaper prices? When that happens, this is what happens.

Soooooo yeah, I’ve got a problem. I’d ask you to send help but really all I want you to send is more cereal…

Thanks for dropping by!
