Manatee Seas

There’s a little beach off the coast of north Florida I’ve been going to since I was a wee little sea cow, and during a recent visit there were some wee BIG sea cows – manatees!

It’s rare for manatees to be in the ocean but with creeks, rivers, and springs near this beach, manatees are becoming more common.

I floated in a kayak near a spring and sure enough there were two manatees. As slow as they swim it was still not so easy to get photos…but I managed to get a few.

Isn’t it amazing the different types of wildlife one can encounter on any given day?

Eye Eye, Captain! A story about a dangerous close call with a near-eye injury.

Have you ever had an experience where something was about to go dramatically wrong, but you didn’t know till it happened?

This was my experience recently in a garage as I put an attic ladder back into place. It is the old springy kind. The attic door wasn’t retracting back up to the ceiling because the arm spreader was caught. I used a small ladder to get closer so I could hold the spreader arm as I pushed the attic door up. The only thing is… when I pulled the spreader arm, the spring (which I didn’t even see) popped and came shooting out… directly at my face!

It all happened so fast that I didn’t even know what happened until after it happened. The metal spring ricocheted off my right hand and missed my right eye by a centimeter. It caught the outer edge of my eye area, the bone surrounding the eye ball, and spiraled down to the garage floor.

For a few minutes one finger hurt, as did the side of my face where the spring hit. Such a scary moment! If that flying metal would have hit my eye, I am very sure I would have spent many months in recovery IF my eye could recover at all.

For the rest of the day and even now I am appreciating what DIDN’T happen, grateful to have both eyes working as they should. What an answer to a prayer I hadn’t even prayed yet.

SKYRIZI “Nothing is Everything” is back with a duet!

This has got to be the most infectious jingle on TV in 2021. I first wrote about SKYRIZI’s “Nothing is everything” song when they aired an ad with a country twist. Check it out here. They seem to have unlimited versions of this song because now it’s a duet. Click below to take a look.

The conundrums presented by SKYRIZI have yet to be solved. Can nothing actually be everything? If you have something, do you have a little of nothing? If you have a lot of nothing, do you have a lot of everything? What if you don’t want everything, can you refuse to accept nothing? Is something, something? I’m beginning to think 2 + 2 isn’t 4 anymore.

So many questions.

But one thing is clear: this song will get stuck in your head for days on end… and SKYRIZI doesn’t seem to be slowing down with the 47 versions they’ve produced of the song.

Postings of a car salesman

I don’t talk to car salesmen very often but when I do it always makes it into the blog. Like this one. Now I have another experience at an undisclosed dealership in Jacksonville, Florida. This salesman talked a good game. He even had post-it style notes up on a cork board with pics of his family. What a relatable guy.

I liked the guy until he left me in his office for far too long. Then even less when he offered me a deal that almost made me choke on my own spit. It’s funny how the numbers they throw out are so attractive until they have to put it in writing.

At least I could leave with a laugh because of a third note he had posted on his board.

Have you ever had a good experience with a car salesman? If so, you are a unicorn. But let me know about it below!

Stir fry dinner of champions

My brother in law outdid himself by cooking dinner on their massive outdoor skillet. I could write a thousand words but this picture does better justice.

As a vegan, I was focused on the left side, but all reviews of the entire dinner were positive. An A for effort and an A for flavor.

Have you had a meal like this recently? What did you think about it?
