Me. I’m the regular guy as referenced in the title of this post. As in, I’m not a movie critic. But that won’t stop me from giving this review! I’d been curious about this movie because it stars Adam Sandler, who is definitely known for being a funny guy. He’s so likable in real life, so I think that’s why people always give any movie he’s in a chance. In this one, which is not a comedy, Adam takes on a serious character, even if this guy is someone we laugh at. “At” being the key word there. His character, Howard, is always getting himself in trouble and Sandler does an excellent job portraying him as the bug in the old adage, “Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug.”
I won’t give anything away except to say this: at the end of the movie I think I felt exactly how they wanted me to feel as a viewer. Pity, some sympathy, and just sad for Howie.
This movie is definitely NOT family friendly, but I’m assuming if you’ve seen the trailer you already knew that. Lots of language and some adult scenes throughout.
I’d say it’s worth watching if you’re OK with the adult nature of it but just be warned, it’s not a feel-good movie by any means.
