The Jeep Commercial That Might Make You Cry

Hello fellow commercial watchers! Jeep must be the reason you’re here and I’m glad you stopped in. I post every day at 1pm central about all kinds of things, but a lot are about TV commercials. If you’ve seen an ad and wonder about it, chances are it’s on my Popular TV Ads page. I’ve written about Jeep a few times and now they’ve done it again! Another commercial I can’t help but watch over and over. It’s a touching ad showing that the connection we have to our cars is more than just a way to get from point A to point B. The Music. The moving soundtrack of this commercial is a song called “Little Moments” by John Coggins. It was released in 2017 on an album called Dreamer.

Others. The song is also used in a commercial for outdoor decking. Check out the Trex commercial, but beware, it’s another ad that will stop you in your Trex. 😉

America. I always like to include one of my favorite Jeep commercial moments when I have the chance. This commercial is from a few years back and features OneRepublic. I don’t think it was a Super Bowl commercial but maybe it aired during the playoffs? Either way, it’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. I still get chills.

Bathing suits or swimsuits?

I’m 44 years old and it’s just now dawning on me that I’ve called bathing suits, bathing suits my entire life. Just like everyone (I think?), I assumed what I learned things were called is what everyone called them. Then, to my surprise, I found out there are different names for the same exact thing. What kind of crazy world are we living in!?

So the article of clothing you wear to the pool or the ocean, do you call them swimsuits or bathing suits? Or are you one of those goofballs that calls them swim trunks?

And Speedos, we won’t even go there! But on a related note, if you see a blue bathing suit somewhere in north Florida… and a black Speedo… and neither belong to you, can you let me know? I lost mine over the Labor Day holiday weekend. And no, it isn’t nearly as fun of a story as you’re thinking, get your mind out of the gutter!

The iPhone 15 Titanium Commercial – The Spacy Song You’ve Never Heard Before

There’s an iPhone commercial out now with one of the most psychedelic songs I’ve heard in a commercial. It’s hard to even explain, so check out the ad then scroll down for more about the song…

The Music. The song is called “Karangailyg Kara Hovaa (Dyngyldai)” by Yat-Kha. I’ve included the full track below but be warned: it will stick with you. Not that you’ll be singing the lyrics (because what are they??) but the melody and the peculiar voice will be in your head for hours if not days!

I’m not even sure what kind of playlist this would be added to, but you can find the song on Spotify, too.

The throaty song was released in 1995. The band is from Tuvla, which is part of the Russian republic. Their name is derived from the instrument similar to a zither.

What a difference a day makes…

It’s true that a commercial can air too often, thus making us, the viewers, dislike whatever product or service is being offered. But even though this Dos Equis commercial airs all the time, I’m not tired of it. It might be the music, which I find myself singing throughout the day 100% because of the commercial.

I don’t drink alcohol so I’m not the target market for Dos Equis, or maybe I am? Can you imagine if a short TV commercial is the reason I became an alcoholic? Weirder things have happened, I guess. But until I’m drinking 24/7, I’ll just be singing this song all day, every day. You will have trouble finding the commercial version of this song anywhere online. It’s by Rita Ray, but originally performed by Dinah Washington.

Is this McDonald’s commercial gay?

McDonald’s has been airing a commercial starring two quiet guys and a teeny tiny French fry. It’s the type of ad that grabs your attention not with music, or catchphrases, but using silence as the bait to draw you in. KIA has done that before and I think it’s pretty effective. Bros Before Fries. The two men silently square up over who will get the last fry, but then both show generosity by letting the other have it. The black guy eventually takes it and the pair have a laugh. The backstory of these two guys is left a mystery, though. Are they deaf? Gay? Both? [wonders why companies include a person’s sexuality when selling unrelated products]

Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That. There isn’t any direct evidence of the guys being gay. Neither man acts overly feminine (like any gay guy on any sitcom) so it’s difficult to definitively say whether McDonald’s was giving a subtle nod to homosexuality. It’s only circumstantial evidence that might reveal what’s going on here. One, I can’t think of any straight guys I’ve ever known acting playful this way about a French fry. Two, straight men don’t share one order of fries. Studies show that 97% of straight men who want some of their friends fries will just go buy their own. The remaining 3% would punch the other guy and take the fries without asking. [admits to making that statistic up]

The ad’s a little cringey. It kind of reminds me of seeing people play footsies under the table. It’s not gross, but it’s gross.
