Posting daily at 1pm central about all kinds of things. One day it's dating, the next it's TV commercials. I hope you're entertained. Professional photos on SmugMug – https://benwilder.smugmug.com
If you’re like me, you heard the music in this commercial and immediately needed to know more about it. Take a look/listen at Corona’s ad titled “Heritage Anthem” then scroll down for the details!
The song. This is the well-known song “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. But the stripped down, acoustic version in Spanish was a great idea for this ad. The vocals were performed by Adrian Cota (lead vocal), Tito Urias, Ricardo Cota, Thalia Cota, Richie Cota. I love the blend of Spanish and English and that they kept the melody of the original. Before moving on to other great performances of this song, check out Adrian Cota’s music on his website and follow him on Instagram: @AdrianCota
The horses. The ad includes a few clips of horses, one of my favorite creatures! In fact, whenever I have a chance to take pictures of them, I do. Here are a few of my best photos which are available for purchase/download in my Wildlife Gallery.
Other covers. There are countless covers of “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” but here are two you need to hear…
You might hear the word “crimson” and think of the Alabama Crimson Tide, especially during college football season. But what the title of this post is referring to is not about football at all. It’s a phrase used in a Sunday church worship song. The lyrics in part go like this…
My life is hidden ‘neath Heaven’s shadow Your crimson flood covers me…
I hadn’t heard the song before so obviously the lyrics were all new to me. While the idea of a sacrifice is central to Christianity, something about “crimson flood” irritated me. Crimson is referring to Jesus’ blood so for one thing, if there was an ACTUAL flood of blood, that would be rather grotesque and by “rather” I mean very, very gross. Just the imagery alone was enough to move this song to the bottom of any list it could possibly be on. Covers me is a great metaphor, a descriptive way of explaining what Jesus did for us on the cross. That leaves the word in the middle… flood. Ain’t nobody gonna get on board with a big ol’ puddle of blood, much less a flood. Just imagine if the lyrics said, “Hundreds of gallons of blood cover me,” it’s the stuff horror movies are made of. I guess in that regard “crimson” is way less morbid.
Then my mind jumped to a delivery I made as a Postmates driver. The customer needed some feminine hygiene products from a nearby drug store so I picked them up. But it wasn’t just the regular tampons. She needed the ones for “heavy flow.” Naturally, she sent a note for me to leave them by her door. Poor woman must’ve been dealing with a crimson flood of her own.
Speaking of all things water (but not flood), here are a few of my best water photos, and these are all available for download/purchase along with my entire portfolio of photos.
Oura is a tech company that makes smart rings to track health data. A tag line they use is “always wearable,” and they have a commercial boasting about the storage and style of the jewelry in their collection. Take a look then scroll down for more info!
The commercial stars skier Lindsey Vonn and basketballer Chris Paul. There’s also a supporting cast represented in an upscale hotel room and running on a road. This is to show the two sides of this ring – it’s appeal for fashion and it’s usage in exercise. Something I noticed is the location of the joggers.
Realistically speaking, no, they didn’t run up and down those mountains because it’s a commercial. The director got the clip he or she needed and they were outta there! But how about that scenery? The beautiful, mountainous horizon (probably California?) isn’t the only location with this kind of beauty. Here are a few of my favorite photos I’ve taken that include roads and gorgeous backdrops. The following images and my entire portfolio of wildlife, landscapes, and more (located here) are available for purchase and download as one-of-a-kind artwork, so take a look when you get a chance.
Chevrolet has a new commercial featuring their lineup of electric vehicles. Check it out then scroll down for info on the music…
The vehicles shown are the Volt, Blazer, Equinox, and Silverado. Unfortunately, the tiny fine print at the bottom of the ad reads:
“Pre-production products shown throughout. Actual production models will vary. Silverado EV available fall 2023. Equinox EV available spring 2023. Blazer EV SS available fall 2023.”
In other words, right now you can only get a Bolt, which has been the case since 2016/17.
The Music. The soundtrack of this ad is “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac, released in 1987.
Hello and thanks for coming by today. I love to write so I’m very glad you clicked over! I post every day at 1pm central. I also love taking photos (take a look at my galleries here). With photos, just like with words, there’s some editing that goes on with the original image. Every once in a while I don’t change the image at all, but then other times I adjust the brightness/contrast or change it to black and white. And beyond that, there are inspirational moments where I get a little crazy (for instance, the Halloween images I posted yesterday or these before and after bird photos), so I thought today might be fun to share a few of my favorite more-heavily edited photos, the ones that are manipulated into something different from the original photos. I’ll add a little description of each one, too. First you’ll see the original, then followed by the edited version.
Seahorse. I’ve never found a seahorse on the shore before until a little one washed up one summer day. I took a few photos and then, in a moment of surprise and confusion, realized my beagle ate it! RIP little horse of the sea.
Jesus. This image comes from a cemetery statue. If you’ve been following the site for a little while, you might have picked up that I like taking photos at (and visiting) cemeteries. Towering over those resting in peace was a tall statue of Jesus and I thought it would make a great photo.
Rings of Color. It was Independence Day and I was practicing with light and a longer exposure. Not all of them turned out as cool, but this is one I kinda liked a lot. It was one of my nieces using a sparkler in a circular motion.
Foxy. This was a crazy moment. I was taking photos of an alligator and all of the sudden noticed there was a fox sitting a lot closer than I ever thought a fox would be to an alligator. And sometimes, regarding the editing image below, too much of a good thing is an even better thing.
Palm Branches. The original photo was from a park in central Florida. Not a whole lot of editing but I thought it would look interesting to use extreme levels of brightness and contrast with additional color.
If you have some art to show, I’d love to hear about it! What’s your favorite type of image to edit and change?
