What a difference a day makes…

It’s true that a commercial can air too often, thus making us, the viewers, dislike whatever product or service is being offered. But even though this Dos Equis commercial airs all the time, I’m not tired of it. It might be the music, which I find myself singing throughout the day 100% because of the commercial.

I don’t drink alcohol so I’m not the target market for Dos Equis, or maybe I am? Can you imagine if a short TV commercial is the reason I became an alcoholic? Weirder things have happened, I guess. But until I’m drinking 24/7, I’ll just be singing this song all day, every day. You will have trouble finding the commercial version of this song anywhere online. It’s by Rita Ray, but originally performed by Dinah Washington.

Is this McDonald’s commercial gay?

McDonald’s has been airing a commercial starring two quiet guys and a teeny tiny French fry. It’s the type of ad that grabs your attention not with music, or catchphrases, but using silence as the bait to draw you in. KIA has done that before and I think it’s pretty effective. Take a look, and a listen, then scroll down for more info…

Bros Before Fries. The two men silently square up over who will get the last fry, but then both show generosity by letting the other have it. The black guy eventually takes it and the pair have a laugh. The backstory of these two guys is left a mystery, though. Are they deaf? Gay? Both? [wonders why companies include a person’s sexuality when selling unrelated products]

Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That. There isn’t any direct evidence of the guys being gay. Neither man acts overly feminine (like any gay guy on any sitcom) so it’s difficult to definitively say whether McDonald’s was giving a subtle nod to homosexuality. It’s only circumstantial evidence that might reveal what’s going on here. One, I can’t think of any straight guys I’ve ever known acting playful this way about a French fry. Two, straight men don’t share one order of fries. Studies show that 97% of straight men who want some of their friends fries will just go buy their own. The remaining 3% would punch the other guy and take the fries without asking. [admits to making that statistic up]

The ad’s a little cringey. It kind of reminds me of seeing people play footsies under the table. It’s not gross, but it’s gross.

How do you feel about the commercial? Does it make you crave the McDonald’s fries? If it does, you’re gay. [almost deletes last line because it’s a joke people will take seriously]

Coach Prime Deion Sanders – Glasses & Almonds & Chicken

Deion “Prime Time” Sanders is everywhere since taking over the head coaching job at the University of Colorado. I’d been used to seeing him as a football personality on TV or in commercials for Aflac. His agent must’ve hit the jackpot for Prime because last weekend I saw him in 597 commercials… and that’s not including Aflac! I guess he wasn’t joking when he said he isn’t hard to find. While you’re looking for him, why not wear his endorsed Blenders sunglasses? They’re actually available for pre-sale so far. Only $67, though. For a guy that sometimes wears glasses worth hundreds of dollars, endorsing a pair under $100 is refreshing! You know what else is refreshing? Almonds. Maybe? It’s a stretch but Neon Deion also endorses California Almonds.

Another commercial campaign that’s gone under the radar is Prime and KFC. Here is along with the rest of his family, enjoying a meal together.

Have you seen other commercials with Prime in them? Share in the comments below. If you’re dying to get a pair of similar glasses, check out these on Amazon.

The iPhone 15 commercial – The Music and More!

Apple is back with its 15th version of the iPhone and it’s got the wow factor in a new ad called “WOW.” Take a look then scroll down for more info about the ad.

The song in the ad goes well with the wow theme. It’s called “Wow” by Team Salut & DÜKI TRAN. Be sure to give them a follow on Instagram… @TeamSalut and @DukiOfficial_, here’s the full track…

I thought it would be fun to watch the very first iPhone commercial from way back in 2007. Doesn’t seem like that long ago, does it? Here’s the commercial that started it all…

OK, back to present day… Apple has also put together a sizzle reel of the iPhone 15 showing off some of its best features. And yes, you can still say “hello” on this phone, too, plus a whole lot more.

The phone isn’t available yet but there are preorders going on. According to the Apple website, it will be available next Friday, September 22nd.

Everleigh’s Taylor Swift music video – is it as bad as people say?

If you’re like me, up until a few days ago you had no idea who Everleigh was. My first introduction to her was from my 15-year-old niece who showed me the brand new “Like Taylor Swift” music video, written by and starring Everleigh LaBrant.

Wildest Dreams. The LaBrant family shot to fame on TikTok so that explains why I have no idea who they are. I’m sure they’d say they didn’t expect fame, even in their wildest dreams. But they found it and the latest offering from the family is this music video posted on the YouTube channel titled “Cole and EV,” which is dad and daughter. I guess that’s Cole appearing briefly in the music video, too.

You Need To Calm Down. I’ve seen online that reactions are split about the song and video. Some are encouraging Everleigh and some are wishing their ears had been sliced off before clicking ‘play.’ Look, what we all need to remember is that this is a project by a child, so why not just tell her it’s awesome and move on? Isn’t that what every parent tries to do with their kids? Think about the artwork you made when you were in elementary school. Was it good enough to be in a gallery? Was it even good enough to be on the refrigerator? No. No, it wasn’t. Sorry if that ruins your childhood memories 🥲.

To prove my point, Everleigh’s dad Cole said this was the best song he’d ever heard. That’s just a dad being a dad so everyone should just calm down.

Tolerate It. It’s also very easy to compare this song to “Friday” by Rebecca Black. Remember that one? Rebecca shot to fame because of it, but for all the wrong reasons. I’d argue that the lyrics were the worst part but just like Everleigh, Rebecca was just dipping her toes into music. We should’ve just tolerated it, I guess.

Long Story Short. Both of the songs “Friday” and “Like Taylor Swift” were clearly written by kids. But 10 years later, Rebecca has stuck it out and now she’s a legit artist. Just check out the music on her YouTube page. I’m actually really impressed! Perhaps Everleigh can make something of herself in professional music, too. Like Rebecca faced in the aftermath of “Friday,” it might takes years of therapy to undo what’s been done (backlash from people criticizing “Like Taylor Swift”), but the decision to put this song out there for everyone to hear can’t be taken back now. We can only hope that it helps Everleigh have tough skin, which is needed in any industry a person’s works.
