Ruby Amanfu performance in Nashville

I recently got the chance to experience the amazing voice and endearing personality of Ruby Amanfu at The High Watt in Nashville.IMG_20150829_212154666The first time I heard she was half of the duo Sam & Ruby, singing songs my friends and I loved instantly. She had a great voice then, and guess what, now is no different. The proof is in her brand new solo album, Standing Still. But let me warn you, you’ll end up either dancing, crying, or just completely jealous that you can’t sing like her. Additionally, you’ll also be smiling.

There are 10 songs on the album, and she performed them for a packed audience Saturday night. They were all met with applause, but it was Not Dark Yet that yielded an extended and noisy approval. She has a real talent for telling the story behind the songs, and the story for Not Dark Yet is a good one.

I think the moment I’ll remember most, though, is the story she told about her song, I Tried. She talked about her family, her boyfriend, who were all at the show. But in a brief moment of silence between thoughts, her sister offered up an “I love you,” and it was sweet. Then Ruby went on to sing the song, every once in a while glancing over with a smile to her sister. Somebody recorded that particular song, so you’re lucky enough to see it here:

Good show, Ruby!

What the texts said between Joe and Sam on Bachelor in Paradise

Fans of Bachelor in Paradise must be dying to know exactly what the texts said when Joe held up his phone to the camera on a recent episode of Bachelor in Paradise. He has long been saying that Sam (a girl he’s obsessed with) is as guilty as he is for plotting and scheming for this season of the show. Well, here’s what the texts say:
bachelortext
Joe: What am i supposed to do till mid June? I hope I’m still there.

Joe: Not hilarious but very embarrassing.

Samantha: OK since you asked here’s samantha’s 2 goals to live by this month.

Samantha: 1. do what you need to do to stay i don’t care what.

Samantha: 2. don’t get 100% completely wifed up yet.

Joe: Are you being 100% serious?

Kanye West running for president?

Evidently during the 2015 VMAs Kanye West announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election.

And all of a sudden I’ve never been more convinced to vote for Hillary in 2016. Get it? If Hillary becomes president in 2016, you know she’ll run for reelection and Kanye will be out of luck. Unless he runs as a republican? With Trump as his running mate? And Taylor Swift as his Secretary of State?

Any scenario I come up with in my head makes me want Jesus to come back in 2019.

The 3 dancers in Omi’s “Cheerleader” video

A while back I posted info on the lead dancer/actress in Omi’s “Cheerleader” video. She’s Sheila Marie, and she can move! But there are a couple of dancers who join her on the Florida beach. I won’t even call them “the other dancers” because they’re so good!

“All these other girls are tempting…”

Yeah, these 2 dancers are cute, and they sure can dance! But who are they? Scroll down to find out! dancers1The one in the yellow skirt is Ja’Naye Thurston. As I looked into it more, I got a lesson on how talented she is: she’s a dancer for the Miami Heat basketball team, coaches dance, models, and appears in music videos and television programs. Oh, and I thought this was pretty cool: it wasn’t too long ago that she was a cashier at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant, and a sales associate at Macy’s (both according to her LinkedIn page). Not to mention she has a LinkedIn page! She makes having a LinkedIn page look cool. In fact, it’s endearing because it’s such a regular person thing to do. It just goes to show that hard work, a boatload of talent, and I guess being on LinkedIn, might just get you where you want to be!

The dancer with the bikini top is Yaritza Medina (pictured below on the right).
dancer3aShe’s appeared in quite a few music videos, programs on Univision and Telemundo, a couple of reality TV shows, and evidently knows Spanish really well; most of what I found about her was in Spanish, whether it was her Facebook fan page, or her Twitter and Instagram feed. So just like Ja’Naye, she’s got a lot going on, too, including acting, modeling, and choreographing.
dancers4There you have it! These three girls are working hard and I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more of them in music videos, on TV, and perhaps even movies if they choose to pursue that.
