More about Cruiser the dog – Truist TV Commercial

I found more info about the star of a new Truist Financial TV ad, Cruiser the dog:

According to Animal Casting Atlanta (via their Facebook page)…

He is a big hilarious rescue dog, and was a series regular on Season 1 of Stranger Things! Can anyone tell us his character name on that show? Cruiser has also been on Sleepy Hollow, MacGuyver and several other shows!

To answer their question, Cruiser’s name in season 1 of Stranger Things was Chester. Here are a few pics of Cruiser, who hasn’t had a DNA test but is probably some kind of terrier. The exact breed is unknown, even by those close to Cruiser. The word “can’ardly” has been used in a humorous way, as in, “you can’ardly tell what they are,” in other words, Cruiser is a loveable mixed breed. He is about 6 years old at the time of this post.

Truist TV ad features well-known song and Cruiser the dog

There’s a new ad out now from a bank called Truist. This bank is newly formed from a merger between SunTrust and BB&T. Both SunTrust and BB&T will be phased out until all that’s left is Truist, but of course that will take time. Until then, we will be seeing ads for Truist introducing us to the financial institution and how they plan to help us bank better. Their first offering features a dog let loose in the town of Cartersville, Georgia, population 21,141. The 30-second ad is called “Main Street Love.” Take a look! (At the bottom of this post is the minute-long version of the ad)

You may recognize the song as “With a Little Help From My Friends” made famous by Joe Cocker. The version used in this song is performed by a band called Endway. The TV ad uses the 2nd verse, which is a nice touch as the first verse is easily the most recognized verse. Using a lesser known verse caught my attention, and of course using a cute puppy is always a win. This pup’s name is Cruiser.

What do you think of the ad? Could it have been done in a different way to get the desired message across?
