NFL Football – surprisingly entertaining this year

For the second year in a row, I’m not in a fantasy league because of a decision I made last year. I thought Covid would keep the full season from happening so I didn’t join a league. I just knew that my luck would go like this: I have a dominant fantasy team destined for the championship, then the NFL would cancel the season and ruin my excitement. So I preemptively beat them to the punch!

I also counted on the fact that I would rejoin my fantasy league for the 2021 season but no one in the league dropped out, so there was no room for me. Grrrrrrrr! That was a let-down.

With that said, though, I haven’t needed fantasy football to enjoy the NFL season. There have been so many good games, whether it was a surprising upset, a few teams missing 5 field goals in the same week, the Bucs getting shutout last week, and the Titans doing well even without Derrick Henry.

The playoffs will be fun to watch, I’m just sure of it. So who’s your team? What have you enjoyed this season?

…but in a good way

For the past few days I’ve been trying to convey to one of my nieces what it is I like about her personality. Unfortunately, I seem to be using adjectives that pretty much require me to add “…but in a good way,” afterwards.

She has caught on to it, noting that if I have to add “but in a good way,” it’s not a compliment. Kind of like when someone says, “no offense…” then they proceed to say something offensive.

Being the awesome uncle that I am, of course now whatever I say to her I include, “but in a good way,” because I take my role as annoying uncle very seriously.

AirBnB Beautiful Stranger Commercial – The Music, the Dogs, and More!

Chevrolet’s Christmas Commercial – The Car, the Heartstrings, and More!

I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying. Ok, seriously, I can’t even set this one up properly because the commercial speaks for itself. A tear-jerker is what it is! Take a look. Check out the extended version of Chevrolet’s Christmas commercial.

“Holiday Ride” features a 1966 Impala. The crew is credited in the YouTube description:

One and Done? – A Dating Story

For any of you who need a catching up, click here for part 1 of this story. Picking up where I left off, our date ended with a hug and mentioning a second date. This first one was about an hour long (I’m a big fan of coffee dates as a first date). It’s just easy to end it quickly if needed. It’s also easy to extend it, if wanted.

After we parted ways I went on to the rest of my Friday night activities. Saturday morning was a slow wake up, followed by saying good morning to the pups and hello to breakfast. Would I hear from this woman today, or would I reach out first? Only time will tell.

The morning came and went. Hours drifted by and after lunch, I spent time with family and ran a few errands – Christmas shopping.

All of the sudden it was mid-afternoon! She must’ve forgot to message me, that’s it! I hadn’t heard from her, so I figured it was a good time for me to say hello. I messaged her through the dating app asking if she’s had a good day. What do you say after a date, you know? So I expected a short response where she said she had a good day or a busy day or a lazy day. Something. Anything.

Time, again, drifted by and I hadn’t heard back. I checked the app. What happened next was a bit of a shock.

She closed our conversation! What!? Was our date THAT bad to not even warrant an “I’m not interested, goodbye.” This abrupt ending surprised me. I couldn’t help but laugh. But the laughter turned into feelings of anger and pity. Maybe I’m just aiming too high.

It’s not like I expected her and I to get married, I already knew we weren’t destined for that. Maybe she was even more sure than I was that it wasn’t going anywhere. Nonetheless, I am happy I went out with her. I needed to get out and spend time with new people. I haven’t made a lot of new friends here since moving a couple of months ago… and I’m ok with that! But it IS nice to have a few opportunities to be social.

Back on the horse, I go. Hoping I don’t get bucked off again!
