Bayer’s commercial for One A Day takes an old song as the soundtrack. Check it out then scroll down for the details…
The Music. The song in this ad is “Ain’t Got No – I Got Life” by Nina Simone. Such a unique sounding voice. The song was released in 1968, a combination of two songs from the “Hair” musical, on Broadway that same year. Here’s the full song.
Here’s a live version that you might enjoy also.

On the surface, this is a cute ad featuring Jake (from State Farm) and an actress by the name of Gabrielle Maiden. Before we get into a possible deeper meaning of the ad, watch it below.
The Message. It was actually hard to find the ad on YouTube. In fact, just the other day I was able to find it with ease, and I believe it was even on the State Farm YouTube channel. Now, though, not so much. I believe the commercial’s scarcity online is because the message being sent is not going over well with some viewers. It’s clear this woman is abandoning her game console (translated: something she can’t afford) and the idea of abandoning pets (from owners not wanting or can’t afford) in the wild strikes a nerve with a lot of animal/pet lovers out there. There’s such a similarity, you’d think State Farm would not title the ad “Into the Wild” but that’s exactly what it’s called.
Now, I’m sure State Farm didn’t have any hidden agendas with this ad. It’s pretty straight forward. Surely they don’t support deserting unwanted pets in the wild, but someone ought to have caught this before it made it to the public.
With that said, I thought Gabrielle Maiden was funny in her western-style exclamations for the game console to move along, its home is in the wild now! You can find her on Instagram here and check out her IMDB page here.
IKEA’s ad featuring stuffed, and buffed animals is one you won’t forget soon. Take a look then scroll down for the details!
The Music. Backing the ad is Sampa the Great’s “Final Form”. You can listen to the whole song below.
The buff bears. The bears in the ad got a lot of attention because of their muscular nature. I can’t find the bears for sale anywhere online, but I have a feeling if IKEA were to manufacture a few of them, they’d sell out pretty quickly.
The blinds. The only product they specifically list in the ad is the blackout blinds for $159/each. You can find the Fyrtur blinds on IKEA’s website here.
Do you like the stuffed and buffed bears? How about the music? Comment below and thanks for dropping in!
Hello and thanks for hopping aboard this photo tour of Alexander Springs Recreational Area. I’ve been on a mini camping tour around central Florida, the first pit stop was in Gainesville (click here) then I was in Juniper Springs State Park for four days (click here). Without a whole lot of set up, I’d describe this spring with these three words: clean, clear, quiet. I suppose that could be said of most state parks that include a spring-fed body of water, but it definitely holds true for this one. OK, on to the pictures!
Oh, I’ll also include a link to my FineArtAmerica.com page where you can find (and purchase) a few of these photographs.
If you have a story to share about camping or this park specifically, comment below.
Hello and thanks for checking out this post covering Amazon’s recent ad. In it, they’re promoting the speed and necessity of their service by featuring Greek goddess (some call her a monster) Medusa who should probably cover up that frightening head with a cool cap from Wild Hat Designs. Below is the 30-second ad, then scroll down for the details.
The Actress. Playing the part of Medusa is Jesi Le Rae. She’s best known for her roles in television shows and some movies. You can follow her on various social platforms here: Instagram and Twitter.
The Music. The song used in this ad is Nicki Minaj’s “Chun-Li”. Warning: Lots of cussing and foul language in this music video.
The Message. There are two messages in this ad. One is that Amazon has everything you need almost virtually when you need it. We’ve all heard that from Amazon, it’s not really breaking news to anyone. The other message is that men basically suck. Amazon definitely doesn’t want you to buy the masculine man in your life this manly gift. Lately, if a man so much as winks at a woman, he shall be put to death (as displayed by Medusa turning the bartender guy to stone). It would be no wonder that some women learn to hate men because they are taught (by ads like this and other popular influences) that when a man thinks they are attractive and expresses that to them, the man is a misogynist pig.
