Favorite Elvis Presley songs, besides the ones you already know

We all know the classic Elvis Presley songs: Hound Dog, Love Me Tender, Jailhouse Rock, etc, and those will top a lot of “favorite” lists out there, but I wanted to put together a list of my favorite lesser-known Elvis songs. For all the die-hard Elvis fans out there, don’t beat me up! I know these are still well-known songs, but as I’ve become more of a fan over the years, the list below has jumped out because I hadn’t heard them much before. Take a look and chime in below with a comment about what your favorites are. Thank ya, thank ya very much!

Favorites of Elvis Presley’s music, besides the ones you already know…

Love Me – a beautiful appeal for someone you love, to love you back

Love Letters (with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) – singing about letters received from a loved one, holding dear the words that were written. His voice on this one is incredible!

Crying in the Chapel – a song about faith, and finding comfort in the Lord, and in church

I Want To Be Free – earnestly yearning for faith in God to set us free, like a bird

Are You Lonesome Tonight (laughing) – I love how human this makes Elvis, and I can’t help but laugh along

Steamroller Blues – I once used this song as my adult league softball “walk up” song… it might just pump you up, too

I’ll Hold You In My Heart (Till I Can Hold You In My Arms) – this is a sweet love song about being apart but wishing to be with the one you love

How the Web Was Woven – I loved the melody of this one

Without Love (There is Nothing) – Love is all we need, basically

Tiger Man – this is a fast one that gets my adrenaline going. It’s just a fun song.

Clean Up Your Own Backyard – Mind your own business is the message in this one… and but out of other folks’ stuff… it can still apply to society today, for sure.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sony SRS-XB41 review

I picked up this bluetooth speaker a few years ago, and I’ve loved every minute of it. For it’s size, it’s loud and heavy. I use it for music and also as an external speaker when I’m watching Hulu or YouTube on my Sony Xperia tablet. I also brought it with me to the Bahamas earlier this year and while it was flagged by TSA, it still made it through OK.

If you’re looking for a nice, hefty, loud speaker, this one will suit you just fine! There are times I wish it was louder, but for the size, it’s still really good. I can’t think of any con’s except for those moments I wish it was a giant speaker, and the “live” mode is something you’ll probably never use. I turn it on every once in a while to test the sound, and it’s just weird sounding.

Sony also claims the speaker is waterproof but I have yet to be bold enough to test that. It does get sand on it somewhat regularly and so far that hasn’t affected it at all. But submersing it under water hasn’t happened yet.

40 years in the dating wilderness

I’ve never felt like Moses more than I do at this very moment. He wandered in the wilderness for 40 years and I’ve been wandering in the dating wilderness for my entire life- 40 years!

Of course, the wanderings were and are for different reasons, and the promised land isn’t the same either… but I am so grateful the Lord opened my eyes to this comparison. It’s lighthearted, sure, but I do think of my journey to the dating “promised land”– marriage– paralleling the Israelites journey.

The thing is… their journey had a (mostly) happy ending as they finally made it to the land flowing with milk and honey. Will mine? I’d love to find a woman as wholesome as milk and sweet as honey 🙂

Volleyball Spotify playlist

Yesterday I posted a playlist designed for your softball games, but below is a list compiled for volleyball, either sand or indoor. While the softball playlist is mostly hip hop, rap, and a few rock songs (music to get you psyched up for homerun hitting, outfield catching, pitcher striking out batters, even in slow pitch), this volleyball list is designed to be chill and mostly relaxed. There is still rap, don’t get me wrong, but it’s about conjuring up good feelings, happiness, and it’s meant to be a compliment to the fun atmosphere that volleyball should be. Check it out and let me know if you have songs that should be on this list!

Softball Spotify playlist

Are you in need of an awesome playlist for your sports team? Well, take a look at the playlist I put together for my adult co-ed softball team. The list is ever-changing, but I think this list is a homerun and will make you the unofficial DJ of your sports team. Check it out below or search for me on Spotify and find the most current playlist there.

For a list specifically designed for volleyball, check back tomorrow. This list is more about mostly chill music that’s perfect for background, good vibes.
