As a camper, I started a membership with Harvest Hosts which provides overnight camping at farms, breweries, wineries, churches, all kinds of locations for people who need somewhere to stay for a night (or two, some offer more than just one night). Last week, and for just the second time with my new membership, I camped at Von Glahn Farms in Georgia and it was awesome! The sunset alone was spectacular, but wide open fields lend themselves to great big views of the sky all day long.

In yesterday’s post, I referenced Elvis Presley’s song “One Is Enough” because there’s this pandemic trend that is still going on to this day and it’s one of my top pet peeves at the moment. Click here for that story. But I guess I have to go against the message of that song because today’s blog entry will be twice that I’ve posted pictures from my camping experience at Hardridge Creek Campground. It’s located right on the Alabama Georgia Line and I had a good time kayaking right from my camper. For the first set of pictures, click here. There’s a song by Elvis Presley called “Once Is Enough” and that’s exactly how I feel about a word that gained popularity because of the pandemic. The word had already been used perfectly in a scene from Friends. Ross, Rachel, and Chandler were bringing a couch up a narrow stairwell when Ross barked out instructions…
If I were one of the characters, it would definitely be Chandler saying, “Shut up, shut up, shut uuuuuppp!” Because the word ‘pivot’ was used so much to describe 2020, it nearly makes me lose my lunch every time. To this day, when someone describes how things are going for them and how they had to shift gears, or make new decisions, I think to myself, “Please don’t say pivot, please don’t say pivot, please don’t say pivot.” Then they say pivot.
It’s just one of those pet peeves, I guess.
Needless to say I was immediately annoyed when FOX announced the debut of a sitcom called “Pivoting” in early 2022. Can’t everyone just remember once is enough?

If you’re going to camp at Hardridge Creek Campground situated right on the Georgia/Alabama line, there are quite a few camping sites with views of Walter F. George Lake. If you really want to be close to the water, though, you need to reserve a spot on the little peninsula where I camped for 2 nights.
My experience was great, in spite of a bad storm that came through on the first night and discovering that my camper had be discovered by ants. I actually packed up and left a few hours earlier than planned because I just didn’t want to spend the rest of the time dealing with the little boogers.
Besides that, and the storm that almost broke my awning (because I was the idiot that left my awning out knowing there was a windy storm coming!), I enjoyed kayaking, a bit of hiking, walking my dogs, and riding my bike around the campground.
