Going to the chapel and they’re, gonna get married…

...going to the chapel of love. A remarkable thing happened the other day when I was out to lunch with a friend. Well, actually, my being social is kind of remarkable on its own, but then ANOTHER remarkable thing happened. During lunch I found out an ex-girlfriend is now married. Her name came up in conversation and it was then that I became “in the know.” My friend actually thought I already knew, but nope. Now I finally know the answer to this question:

How will I feel when I find out she’s engaged or married?

And the answer is… you think I’m streaming Adele now, don’t you? I’ll be spending the rest of the week eating pints of ice cream and watching “While You Were Sleeping.” Welllllllll……

I thought I might feel devastated. I thought I might be sad. I thought my heart would be heavy. I thought a lot of things. But as weird as it sounds, the very first feeling I had after the news broke was… relief. RELIEF! Like all is right in the world*. I know the relationship she and I shared had it’s ups and downs, but the right man for her is with her now. He’s making her feel his love. They’re rolling in the deep. He said hello, she said let’s set fire to the rain.

*All is hardly right in the world, this was definitely a generalization and maybe even a metaphor. Ah well, water under the bridge.

But politics and international unrest aside, there’s a burden off my shoulders. I don’t know if I can even verbalize what the burden was, maybe a heavy “what if” or “what could’ve been.” I feel joy, too. I wish her the best and hope she sends my love to her new lover.

This somehow transformed into how many Adele songs can I reference but if 2020 was the year where nothing happened due to lockdowns, etc, “transformation” can be how 2021 is defined. So much happening worldwide, countrywide, and in my own life.

Rumour has it more changes are on the way so I hope we’re all buckled in!

Applebee’s Fancy New Commercial – The Music and More!

There I was again watching an episode of Bachelor in Paradise when a catchy song backed a commercial for Applebee’s. Check it out:

It’s a very TikTok-inspired visual going on with the ad but the song sets up the good vibes very well. What song is it, you may ask? Here it is… “Fancy Like” by Walker Hayes.

Other brands mentioned are Wendy’s, Tesla, Natural Light, Skoal, Victoria’s Secret, Maybelline, and of course, Oreo.

Speaking of the double stuff delights, Applebee’s apparently brought back the Oreo Shake solely because of this song. I wouldn’t know because I’m not fancy* but how’s that for some influence?

*I once took a woman on a first date to Which Wich. She is now married to a guy who probably didn’t take her to a fast food restaurant on their first date.

My own dorky love life aside, this song DID go viral on TikTok, as displayed in the Applebee’s commercial. I have literally never done this dance even once, but it appears there is a specific dance for this Walker Hayes track. Here’s a compilation that will entertain you for 10 whole minutes.

For Walker Hayes’ take on the song going viral, check out his interview here. Hayes is a co-writer along with a few other country folks, and after it’s viral tour around the country, went to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Do you like the song and, be honest, how many times have you done the dance?

Radnor Lake Photography August 2021

I went to Radnor Lake the other day with a friend and my goal was to take at least 10 keeper photos. I figured I needed to take a lot more to get 10 keepers, so there were hopes of deer and eagles and snakes and turtled and… well, the elusive white deer I’ve never seen before!

Spoiler, I didn’t see the white deer and that’s OK. We did see turtles, though, and LOTS of spider webs. We ended up talking more about cryptocurrencies than photography but I managed to get a few photos I liked. Take a look at a handful of images from my recent visit to Radnor Lake and thanks for stopping by!

*Note: the last few are not from Radnor, but I stopped on the way home at a little park near a church*

More of my photography can be found on FineArtAmerica page.

David Spade is the Best Bachelor Host in the History of the Bachelor

Just try and change my mind! David Spade hosted Bachelor in Paradise for the first 2 weeks of the show (since long-time host Chris Harrison left the franchise disgracefully) and I would sign any petition to make him the permanent host of the series, or at least host of Bach in Paradise. He was casual, comfortable, funny, knowledgable, and most importantly, didn’t take the show so seriously. He made jokes about the things fans joke about instead of attempting to convince viewers this was going to ACTUALLY be the most dramatic season ever. He had fun with it.

At the end of week two of BiP, Joe Dirt said his goodbyes and the icing on the cake was his exit interview in the SUV as they drove him away from the resort. His funny interview was in a way, mocking every exit interview that any rejected contestant has ever had, but it wasn’t mean or shaming any contestants. He just came across very chill, kind, and genuine… but also really funny. The tease in week 2 shows Lance Bass (of *NSYNC fame) as the host for the next episode (airing tonight) so we’ll just have to see how that goes. He’s already got a high bar coming into the episode.

David Spade was great, and I propose that he become the full time host of the show! Of course, he would never agree to this, but who’s with me??

What the heck are NFTs?

A friend of mine just sold 5 NFTs, which is awesome for him! I responded, “That’s amazing! Very, very cool! Also, what are NFTs?”

OK, I didn’t say exactly that because for one thing, he told me in a text. Secondly, I have a vague idea of what an NFT is. What I can’t figure out just yet is why anyone wants an NFT. From what I’ve found out so far, they’re basically a one-of-a-kind digital asset (a picture, GIF, or whatever) that someone can purchase and own, with no one else being able to “own” that image or animated thing unless the person who bought it resells it.

I wouldn’t even call it a craze yet, but if this NFT thing blows up, will it look more like the Beanie Baby fad from the 90s, the fidget spinner frenzy from a few years ago, or something like Bitcoin where, once people get on board, it has staying power?

I hardly know what these things are so I definitely can’t say one way or the other whether they’ll catch on or not. Or maybe they already have and getting some skin in the game now is a day late and a dollar short.

Do you have experience with NFTs? If so, were you buying or selling? Comment below and let’s get the ball rolling on what these things are and what their future might be.

Thanks for stopping by!
