USA Softball Association Calls Biden Town Hall’s Use of “Softball Questions” Sexist, Misogynistic, and Inaccurate

Philadelphia, PA — Presidential nominee Joe Biden held a town hall Thursday evening, hosted by his friend, ABC News host George Stephanopoulis. The intimate moments between the two were occasionally interrupted by socially-distanced citizens asking prepared questions of the former Vice President.

After watching the 90-minute Biden promo, USA Softball President tweeted her outrage over the use of what is commonly referred to as “softball questions,” meaning the questions are setup to be incredibly easy to answer. She even later called them sexist and misogynistic.

This tweet is of course referring to fastpitch softball being played competitively by millions of women all over the country. It is also widely accepted that hitting a pitch coming in at 70 miles per hour is, in fact, not easy. While men do also play the sport, their involvement is typically in slowpitch softball and it’s for the middle-aged man still trying to live out his glory days of high school ball.

The use of easy, or leading, questions is not uncommon in politics but if liberal feminists decide this will help further their man-hating agenda, brace yourself for what could be severe backlash against easy questions altogether on the national stage all the way down to early childhood education.

What’s a word that starts with the letter T, class? That’s right, Third Wave Feminism. You all get a sticker!

Subaru’s “Underdog” ad totally got me

I have no idea what I was watching on TV, but I will remember for a long, long time when I first saw this Subaro ad…

After it was over, I was totally not crying at all. Or was it that I was not totally crying? What is it called when you have a lump in your throat and almost cry? That was me. But seriously, if this commercial doesn’t tug at your heart strings, you are evil and you must be destroyed.

Subaru has a page on their website where you can meet the dogs from the ad, click here to go there. Meanwhile, I’ll just show you my favorite pup. Sure as cornbread goes with greens, I’m in love!

from Subaru.com

The ad was shot in Los Angeles and scrolling through the YouTube comments, I found a post from one of the trainers of these pups, Joel Silverman:

“Great to be a part of this. Thank you Subaru for giving me the opportunity to help you train all 8 wonderful dogs for this great shoot last month in L.A! After doing this for over 40 years, it is one I will always remember because Subaru took the time to cast special needs dogs that were actually living in foster homes or adopted that had never been on the set before.”

I think that says it all, doesn’t it? Kudos to Subaru for striking a chord in the hearts of animal lovers, dog lovers, and of course, people who might need a car. 🙂

Toyota Venza ad featuring “Love Lost” and a cute terrier dog

If you’ve been watching TV lately, you might have seen this new ad from Toyota.

The ad is titled “Lifesaver” and portrays the Toyota Venza as a lifesaver when it comes to doing the things you need to do, like tracking down a lost dog. I, for one, can confirm that some dogs DO run away when it thunders! One of mine will even dig under my backyard fence to try escaping the loud booms.

For more about Toyota’s hybrid SUV, this article is short, sweet, and insightful. As for the ad itself, the song used is called “Love Lost” by The Temper Trap. The full length music video is at the bottom of this post. The band formed in 2005 and released this song in early 2010. The song was also part of the soundtrack for the movie No Strings Attached. That’s the one with Ashton Kutcher, NOT Justin Timberlake. I always get those movies confused (Justin’s movie is Friends with Benefits).

The commercial was created by Saatchi & Saatchi, a London-based ad agency.

The star of the 30-second spot is a dog which looks to be some sort of terrier, one of the top breeds in London (where the ad agency is based). Perhaps a cross-breed of a border terrier and a bull terrier? Just a guess.

The Bachelorette Clare Crawley debuts tonight!

Once upon a time I blogged about The Bachelor/ette franchise. I liked all my posts, and even loved some of them, like this one confessing this show is my guilty pleasure. It’s been less pleasure and more annoying as the seasons have gone on, mostly because of the maniacal producers setting up the drama. In fact, that’s why I boycotted last season. But alas, Clare Crawley is the star of the season making its debut tonight.

I have liked Clare Crawley from her first appearance on the Bachelor, back when Juan “esss okkkk” Pablo was the one searching for love. Then I fell in love with her as she delivered a total rejection of Juan “esss okkkk” Pablo. She was the one of the last two contestants Juan “esss okkkk” Pablo was to choose from and he chose the other woman. As he feigned heartbreak over the decision, she unleashed havock upon his soul. Take a look, it was pretty amazing.

So yeah, I’m a fan. To be totally honest, I was a fan of Juan “esss okkkk” Pablo, too, until we all got to know him. He had appeared on the Bachelorette and came off as being very likable, probably because he barely talked. Once he became the Bachelor…

As I mentioned earlier, I have actually given up on entire seasons of the Bachelor/ette because of the fakeness orchestrated by producers, but I’ll watch tonight as Clare welcomes a million guys to the mansion hoping to right what Juan “esss okkkk” Pablo did wrong. Plus, it’ll be interesting as the season goes on (if I’m still watching) how they handle the mask/covid situation.

If you’re watching tonight, what are you most looking forward to? What are you least looking forward to?
