New Allstate commercial – actors, location, and music

Allstate uses a French song as the backdrop for an ad featuring various items on the roof of a car. We’ve all done that, haven’t we… left something on the roof? In this commercial titled “Smooth,” the items include: Jello cake, mug of tea, paint can, a bag of groceries, dinosaur (T-rex), flower in flower pot, bedroom slippers, iced coffee, gold fish in small tank, bag of groceries, oranges, and a purse.

[for more about Allstate’s new “Islands” commercial, click here]

The ad shows a clip of a young girl astonished at what she’s seeing on the roof of a nearby car. The actress is Violet McGraw, who plays a part in the Netflix series “Haunting of Hill House.” The red-headed actor at the end of the ad is Nathan Caywood. A big thanks to Steve for providing this info in the comments below. Thanks Steve!

The very last shot in the spot is an apartment complex in Los Angeles… 2234 Norwalk Avenue.

The song in this ad will stick with you. It’s called “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien,” a French song by Edith Piaf. Translated this title means “No, I do not regret anything.”

The song has been used in other ads and movies, as well. Dove Chocolate, Cadillac, Inception, and Madagascar 3, just to name a few. Here is the Dove Chocolate ad:

And again in Madagascar 3:

And we might as well visit the original, Edith Piaf:

Funny Online Dating Profiles – part 2

If you missed part 1, check it out here and then let’s continue in the funny, cringe-worthy, embarrassing world of online dating!

  1. Cigs yes, kids no. This gentleman purposely matched with a woman who clearly lists that she wants kids and doesn’t smoke. Take a look at his side of these issues. Not to mention she says she loves Jesus and he says he’s non-religious. Sounds like a match made in Heaven, although he would not believe it.

2. Trash talk. I wonder what his fun ideas are… going to a recycling center together?

3. A picture is worth a thousand words 50 cents. This guy used a picture of 50 Cent as his profile picture. My friend responds accordingly.

4. That’s a catty-looking dog.

5. They say people look like their pets. Here’s exhibit A.

6. Me, myself, and I. Maybe that phrase is what she meant… so she is 3 women?

7. Words of affirmation. Showering them with compliments will always win them over.

8. I’ve been everywhere, man. This is just one of my pet peeves I had to include. It comes across as bragging, narcissistic, and really, I don’t care where you’ve been mmmmmk?

9. Get with the times. You can’t say bomb on a plane and you can’t say her favorite team name anywhere.

Thanks for checking out these profiles. There are a lot more out there so if you’re sorting through looking for the diamond in the rough, be prepared to laugh and be sure to have an extra dose of patience.

Feel good sports music playlist

I’m on version 4 of my softball Spotify playlist and I really think #4 hit a bullseye! It’s been really fun to listen to while playing softball and I think it would work for other sports as well. Note that I’m mostly referring to adult league sports. These songs wouldn’t necessarily work for any type of hype music for school teams or professional teams 🙂

Here is “Softball #4”. This entire list will give you 3 hrs, 38 min of great music. Scroll down for my top 10 favorites from these songs.

From this list, my 10 favorite songs to hear on game day are:

  • “Alphabet Street” Prince
  • “Numb” U2
  • “Party Like A Rockstar” Shop Boyz
  • “Black Parade” Beyonce
  • “No Diggity” Blackstreet
  • “Beer Never Broke My Heart” Luke Combs
  • “The South” The Cadillac Three
  • “Chainsaw” Family Force 5
  • “Baba O’Riley” The Who
  • “Jump Around” House of Pain

What do you think about this list? Do you have any recommendations for “feel good music” in a sports setting?

Thanks for checking out my blog!
