I recently put together a list of professional sports teams that might soon be pressured into changing their mascots (click here for that). Not to be outdone, here’s a list of colleges that might suffer the same fate as those professional teams.
Colleges that might change their mascots to be more politically correct:
Florida State Seminoles
North Carolina Tar Heels
Alcorn State Braves
Utah Utes
Central Michigan Chippewas
Mississippi College Choctaws
*Also on this list is any school or team that uses as a mascot, Warriors
There you have it. Do you know of another school that might change their name? Comment with your additions below and as always, thanks for stopping by!
In light of the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins changing their name to the Washington Football Team, I want to make it easy for you (because I was wondering this myself) to have a list of all the professional teams (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) that will most likely be changing their names in the next 5 to 10 years to be more politically correct. I’ll also put together a list of major colleges that will be doing the same. Let’s start with the NFL, though…
NFL:
Dallas Cowboys
New England Patriots
Minnesota Vikings
Cleveland Browns
Major League Baseball:
Atlanta Braves
Cleveland Indians
National Hockey League:
Chicago Blackhawks
NBA Basketball:
none
There are a few more I would add to the list of each league if I were being nitpicky (Oakland Athletics… offensive to unathletic people?)… but for now we’ll leave the list as it is.
Do you think these teams will be pressured to come up with new mascots anytime soon? Chime in below with your thoughts.
I have two dogs. A beagle and a pot head. There. I said it. One of my dogs is hooked on marijuana. Worse yet, I’m her dealer! That’s right. The other day I slipped a few drops of CBD oil into my pup’s dinner and now she’s the black sheep of the family.
I hope it’s not just a gateway drug to something worse.
OK, OK, to be serious… this dog of mine has major allergies and for everything we’ve tried, we’ve come up short of solving the nagging problem. There are seasons of the year where it’s not too bad– maybe she scratches here and there throughout the day (still more than a dog ought to), but then there are weeks and months where she’s either sleeping or itching. It’s got to be frustrating for her, always scratching, nibbling her paws, rubbing her face in the carpet or grass.
I tried a pill the vet recommended and it worked, but there were only enough doses to last a couple weeks. I had also read reviews of this product and shuttered at the possible side effects.
I had been curious about CBD oil to help relieve the itching so it’s only been a couple days at this point, but I’m hopeful! I’ll update more when it’s had time to get into her system but I’m very much hoping that this will solve the problem for her. And if it does, Daddy might take a dose 😉
I had the pleasure of listening to this album in it’s entirety on a recent trip to Memphis. I was pumped to have the time where my attention could be wholly given (except for the driving thing, of course) to the 11-track album Out of Body. While I’m not an expert in music, I am an expert in listening to music, so what I will offer you is my reaction to this album after listening through it all for the first time, with a quick note: I had heard 2 of the tracks before the full album release, “Who Am I” and “Mercy’s Shore.”
My first thought to share after listening to all of it is that Needtobreathe is one of the best, most authentic, bands playing music that will not only resonate with you, but will also spark a fire in your soul if you let it. The key is, will you let it? Are you in a place to receive music that says ‘it’s ok to not be ok’ because there is a God that knows.
The band is known for their deep spirituality showing up in their songs, but they also have a lighter side. I’m thinking of one of my favorite songs, “Girl Named Tennessee,” from the 2009 album The Outsiders.
See? It’s just fun. Well, don’t hold your breath because Out of Body has no such song… and that’s OK! Each of the tracks are either thought-provoking in their projection of who God is to us as His creation, or lovely in their profession of love towards another person. Yes, I’m referring to “Banks.”
And if you ever feel like you are not enough, I’m gonna break all your mirrors.
I want to be there when the darkness closes in to make the truth a little clearer.
I want to hold you close but never hold you back, I’ll be the banks for your river.
With every album that they release, I am becoming more and more of a lifelong fan. I would even greatly hesitate to say they “make Christian music,” let’s just call it music about life on earth, the ups and downs, the love and loss, the heartbreak and hope, it’s just plain ol’ great music that’s about God but never comes close to preachy.
Republicans will say Biden is out to take the 2nd Amendment away, and Democrats will say that’s a huge exaggeration. Without a total upheaval of the Constitution, there is no way that kind of government control will ever happen so… Republicans, you’re safe. Democrats… don’t forget this (specifically 0:33)…
and this…
Joe Biden (at 8:25) says: “You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me.”
