An old soul or a spring chicken?

There are probably lots of tests out there you can take to find out how old you feel. Sometimes you are in your 20s and feel like an old soul. Sometimes you’re in your 60s and feel like a spring chicken.

Well, this is how old I am. I’m “when you wake up ready for a new day and it’s 10:30pm on still the same day you went to bed” years old.

Yeah, that’s right. I woke up ready to win the day and then checked my watch. 10:30. Why is it still dark out? Ohhhhh, it’s PM not AM. It felt like I had slept for hours, though! Ohhhhh, I had. Exactly what time did I go to bed, anyway? 8:37pm. Yeah, I’m old. It won’t be too long till I’m waking up, eating a bowl of oatmeal, and checking where the hopping estate sales are this weekend.

Oh wait. Dang it. I already do that.

Favorite non-Elvis, Elvis performances

In honor of Elvis Presley’s birthday (tomorrow, Jan 8th), I thought I’d compile a short list of performances that have stuck with me over the years. These are from movies, YouTube, and TV, and feature songs made famous by Elvis. I’ll just be honest, they’re mostly “Can’t Help Falling in Love” performances, except for this first one…

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in The Game Plan (2007)

Kina Grannis singing in wedding scene from Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

YouTubers Powerfox and Poneymane, one of whom tried out for American Idol years ago (2010)

Lisa Donnelly during Ashley and JP’s Bachelor Wedding Special (2012)

Amen and awoman ….my nit-picky thoughts

The U.S. might have lowered rock bottom because I thought we already there… until this. Aside from the lunacy of changing a word that has nothing to do with masculine or feminine forms, I have another gripe with what this guy said.

Am I being nit-picky that what annoys me more is his use of men-plural and woman-singular?

“Amen and awoman”

Totally inconsistent! If you’re going to be stupid, at least be smart about it. He should have said, “Amen and awomen.”

Now you are free to go check the other million comments about how idiotic his statement was. I just had to chime in with my two cents.

The actors in RaeLynn’s “Me About Me” music video, and more!

RaeLynn debuted a beautiful, and dare I say “angelic,” music video in December for her song “Me About Me.” The title makes more sense when you listen to the lyrics and check out the video 🙂

The actor playing the villainous boyfriend is actor/model Michael Mau (height 6’2″, shoe size 12.5 US). He had a few funny comments on his role in the video. First was a comment he added to the YouTube clip of the music video:

“Honored to be a part of this video. And if y’all are wondering, she dumped me. I mean she dumped him.”

And then another from his website:

“When my son saw the video, he said, ‘Dad, she’s young enough to be your granddaughter.'”

The granddaughter girlfriend is actress/model Jacqueline Sullivan. According to her bio, she stands at 5′ 10.5″ and wears a women’s size 9.5 shoe. She’s represented by Nashville-based AMAX Talent/Creative (as is Michael Mau).

The music video was shot by Running Bear Films somewhere near Watertown, TN, which is about an hour east of downtown Nashville. This is based on the clip of their photos laying on top of a theater advertisement listing Watertown, TN as a location.

The Bible she picks up after her boyfriend spills beer on it says, “With Deepest Sympathy, Green Valley Care Center” …a nursing home facility in Indiana.

Song in the Holiday Mercedes-Benz Commercial

You may have seen this Mercedes commercial recently featuring a stuffed animal finding a new home (a MUCH warmer home, as the ad implies) with a family in a Mercedes SUV. The ad is titled, “Plushie” and you can watch it here:

Voiceover for this ad is performed by actor Jon Hamm.

The song used in the ad is called “Your Sweet Heart” by Elijah Aaron. From Elijah’s website:

“All music composed, performed, produced, mixed and mastered by Elijah Aaron Palnik.”

For this ad, though, Mercedes brought in a woman to sing the lyrics, which are as follows:

The world is much bigger now you’re gone
I hear your voice in every song
Feeling like a shadow in a world I don’t belong
Then your sweet love came along

Now you’re miles of time ahead
Your voice still echoes in my head
Feeling like a shadow in a world I don’t belong
Then your sweet heart came along

Where would I be had I not met you
How would my days continue on
Who would I be had I not found you

I guess it I had it all wrong
Till your sweet heart came along

Here is Elijah performing this beautiful song.

Back to the MB commercial, I think the shorter version doesn’t quite give you the warm feeling that the original 60-second version does. Take a look at the longer version here:
