Truly Hard Seltzer ad featuring “Happy Day”

Truly Hard Seltzer has an ad out with a catchy remake of a 70s theme song. Here’s the ad, titled “Day Party.” Scroll down for more info!

Song: “Happy Days” Tess Henley (originally done by Pratt & McClain)

More info about the Truly commercial:

Included in the 15-second ad are colorful clips of people smiling, fruit-covered shirts, bright clothing, and a shirt that says “Destination Sun.” Surely the bright colors and fruits were intended to link in our minds the idea that the drink is fruity and summery.

The company which produced this ad is California-based Strike Anywhere, and the ad was directed by Malia James. Music (performed by Tess Henley) was arranged by Sampa the Great.

For a fruity twist, here are other songs/versions with the same title:

Hop on over to Twitter and tell Tess you love her version of this song!

The tea kettle in Allstate’s “Islands” TV commercial

There are some really amazing vintage tea kettles out there and now, after researching for the one in this ad, I want one. Do I drink tea? Sometimes. Must I have one of these kettles? DEFINITELY. More on that later, but back to the point of this post… the awesome tea kettle in Allstate’s commercial:

Here’s a screen grab of the kettle in question. What is it? Who makes it? Where can we find one like it? Scroll down for answers.

If you’d like to buy a kettle like this, I think you’re in luck! It’s a Le Creuset Kettle Kone. You can go directly to the Le Creuset website but the vintage kettle kone is not available there. However, there is good news: you can find still find the retro kettles for purchase on a few websites.

Check out the one in the screenshot above from this website; it looks like they DO ship to the United States. Outside the U.S., check out the Tilbords website to find this kettle, as well.

I’d also like to send a big thanks to Sindre Tverfjell, an adventurer in Norway who helped confirm this info for me (and for you 🙂 ). Sindre is owner of the adorable dog named Ellie, appearing in the ad. Ellie is a basset artesian normand and with those big ears, how can you not love her?

I mean, look at the cuteness.

Sindre is also owner of Hustadvika Adventure, offering adventure packages on the coast of Norway, including the two islands featured in the Allstate commercial: Ona and Husøy. Check out their beautiful Instagram pictures, which makes me think Heaven must be in Norway.

PS. If you go on a Hustadvika Adventure and happen to see Ellie, be sure to pat her on the head for being such a good girl!

PPS. Don’t pat Sindre on the head, I don’t think he would like that. 🙂

OK, back to the kettle: A Le Creuset kettle kone will cost around $100 to $150 USD because of shipping (international) but there are similar kettles that might do the trick for you (listed below with links). I found a few on eBay. I would also suggest checking Etsy and Amazon using the search term “Le Creuset kettle kone” and maybe adding “meringue” if you want the creme/ivory color.

The Bachelorette- something I liked about Tayshia Adams

Say what you want about Tayshia Adams taking over the Bachelorette when Clare went ga-ga over Dale and swiftly left the show… with Dale… (and most people LOVE Tayshia), I noticed one of her Bachelorette habits that I really liked. If you’re not familiar with the show, one thing they do is have group dates. This is where the Bachelorette goes on a date with a handful of guys. At the end of this date it’s expected that there will be one rose handed out which guarantees the person receiving it stays around for another week.

Usually there is a moment where the person gets the rose then meanders around to find the one contestant they want to give it to. With Tayshia in this situation, she did just that but before giving the rose to one guy, she would single out a few of them and say really positive things about her time with them. She complimented them and built them up and then would give the rose to one of them. I think that sort of approach probably had a great affect on the morale of the guys individually and as a group.

Break it to me gently, as the song goes. At least it wasn’t a blow to all the other guys when just one got the group date rose. There were compliments given and I think even for the guys not getting the rose, this softened the edge of not getting the rose.

I like the idea of being complimentary like she was in these situations. I’ve already incorporated a similar thing in my own world, and I will try to do it more and more as I have the opportunity. However, I will never be auditioning for the show.

Do you think her attempt at building the guys up can apply and have benefits in the real world? Chime in below with your comments!

Perfect night for a weenie roast

I recently met up with a few friends for a bonfire. You see, here in Nashville it’s cold. And when I say cold, I mean it’s colder than a brass toilet seat on the shady side of an iceberg. We even moved the bonfire up from 7pm to 4pm, which had me as happy as a hound dog with two tails. Speaking of dogs, it was a “perfect night for a weenie roast,” as someone said.

Also, there were real dogs there, too.

However, I could tell when it was time for me to go. It was when I started making comments about how nice it is to have a warm home to go to. It was also when my fingers were feeling like frozen weenies. Great night, though! I’m thankful for friends I can spend time with who are adventurous, outdoorsy, and dog people.

Things you don’t say to women – Bible edition

Abraham and Sarah

Romans chapter 4 talks about Abraham and Sarah in regards to the promise God made to Abraham. The writer mentions that when the couple was blessed with children, Abraham was about 100 years old. The writer DOES NOT mention Sarah’s age.

Take-away – Never ask or say a woman’s age out loud or in writing or ever.

Mary, mother of Jesus

We all know the story of Mary being the mother of Jesus, although she was a virgin. There was a period of 9 months where Mary had to be showing… a big stomach, and all. The Bible never mentions anyone commenting about this.

Take-away – Never, ever, under any circumstances ask a woman if she’s pregnant.

Rahab

Rahab is credited with helping Israel take over the Promised Land of Jericho. Also according to the Bible, Rahab might have been a prostitute. She is considered one of the most beautiful women in the Bible. There aren’t any verses about the Israel men talking about her job.

Take-away – It’s OK to notice a beautiful woman, but never ask her if she’s a prostitute.

Mary and Jesus

When Mary, Jesus’ mother, told Jesus to do something at the wedding when the wine was all gone, Jesus hesitated at first. But one thing He didn’t do was hesitate twice.

Take-away – Do what your Mama tells you.

Ruth

Ruth’s story is a good one. In a nutshell, after becoming a widow she found Boaz and eventually became his wife. It started late one night when she uncovered his feet and laid there all night.

Take-away – Women always make the first move. Men, never suggest otherwise.

Esther

Esther was credited with saving the Jews when the king was going to have them all killed. Mordecai (Esther’s cousin), asked her to approach the king to ask him to spare the Jews. Mordecai went to her twice for this, but never asked her, “Are you able to do this?”

Take-away – When you want something done, ask a woman.

Eve

After Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree, they recognized their nakedness. They made clothing out of leaves. If Eve ever asked, “Does this fig leaf make me look fat?” I hope Adam knew the right answer.

Take-away – Never tell a woman, under any circumstances, that they need a Peloton stationary bike.
