(Not Very) Wild Horses

I was recently driving on backroads in central Florida and came through a couple of towns that were steeped in the equestrian life. I had not seen so many horse and tack shops in such close proximity to each other in all my life. There were also farms and fences spread out over rolling hills and acres of pastures. As I made my way north I glanced to my right, I think my heart skipped a beat because of the beauty in that passing moment. I was almost stunned at the scene: a white horse in the middle of a gigantic fenced-in field. It’s the scene Taylor Swift would write a song about. But today you’ll have to settle for a few photos because I definitely made a u-turn and pulled over to the side of the road to snap some photos. That in itself was an adventure (and probably not very smart) because the narrow deserted highway all of the sudden became a rush of travellers; cars and semis zooming by. A little dangerous, and like I said, probably not very smart of me. But it was worth it to capture these horses in photograph form!

The next three photos are available by clicking here for my work on FineArtAmerica… so you can have one (or all!) of them in your home or office, as well.

Thank you so much for dropping by…

Bonus photos from touring around central Florida

It’s been such an adventure touring around Florida. I’ve written about it in the past, including my thoughts and lots of photos. Of course, though, there are photos that just don’t quite fit (or weren’t even recorded yet) so this post is all about those misfit photos! Take a look below and be sure to read the captions for a brief description of each. For more camping stories, click here.

more power – Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor… having this generator is such a great thing on warm nights, or when I want to get fancy and use the TV

Some things just hurt the heart, this volleyball net has seen better days

snorkeling at Alexander Springs State Park. I can’t lie, the water was chilly, but getting out after was absolutely freezing

Thanks for dropping in! I post every day at 1pm central, so come back by when you have time 🙂

Downtown Celebration, Florida – in pictures

As the sunset turned bright skies to rich oranges and deep shadows were cast along the roadways, I was there with my bicycle and camera to get whatever photos I could. I’m so glad I rode the 6 miles from the RV park where I was “camping” over to the well-known town of Celebration, Florida. Below are a few of my favorite photos from this sunset session.

I was really excited when I saw the columns of the Celebration post office. That’s the picture with the long white, square columns rising up to the angled roof in the first few pictures. The fountain was the last area I photographed, and thought that was just the perfect way to wrap up the afternoon, especially since I had to ride back to the RV park in the dark.

Do you have a favorite from the photos above? I would be so happy to hear about it! Thanks for dropping by…

Amazon’s Napoleon TV Commercial – The Actor, The Joke, and More!

Hello and welcome to Out of the Wilderness. If you’ve been to the blog before, you know topics covered can vary from music to camping to beagles, faith, and a very, very little bit of politics (because who wants to talk about that!?). For more info on popular TV commercials, check out this page: Popular TV Ads, but now onto Amazon Prime’s ad featuring the comedy of… Napoleon Bonaparte?

The Actor. You might be wondering who plays the part of the conqueror turned comedian. Wonder no more! The actor is Tyler Seiple. He’s done quite a bit of acting over the years, check out his website and watch his reel below.

You can also find more info about Tyler on his IMDB page, and be sure to follow him on Instagram.

The Show. In a short amount of time Napoleon goes from a fighter to a friend, in a way, due to what he saw on TV. He was watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a show on Amazon Prime about a housewife who becomes a stand-up comic.

The glass tumbler. A lot of detail went into the production of this Napoleon ad, even using glass tumblers with the Napoleonic bee embossed on them. Conveniently, you can find these tumblers on Amazon and have them delivered faster than a bee stings!

The joke. Napoleon asks if the audience in the back can see him, then has them laughing with his follow-up comment, “OK, I’ll stand up.” This joke plays off the common thought that Napoleon was short (or at least, shorter than other men of his time). According to History.com, though, he was most likely just about average height… which gets overlooked (no pun intended) because of the units of measurement back then compared to modern day.

To make a long post short (another short joke 🙂 ), let’s get to the questions. What are your thoughts on the ad? Is it an effective strategy for Amazon, who wants the viewer to know that Prime changes everything? If you could change courses from what you’re doing with your life now, what would choose to do instead?

Thanks for buzzing by…

Central Florida mini tour – RV sites, state parks… in pictures

Hello! I’ve been touring around central Florida, camping in RV parks and state parks. Also, with my Harvest Hosts membership, I’ve even parked for a night in a church parking lot in DeLand, Florida. I loved taking a few pictures in downtown DeLand so the first few pictures are from that little session. The rest of the pictures are photos that weren’t previously posted when I wrote about other camping stories. Thanks for dropping in today!
