Gosling photos – April 2021

One of my friends has a million geese in her neighborhood and babies have been hatching, adding more cuteness to the situation over there. I have posted about them before, but here are a few more photos from a gaggle of 7 geese, 5 of which are babies. Check out the second to the last image with one of the goslings looking up to the parent. Cuteness overload. Also, two of the goslings are noticeable smaller than the other three (see last picture) so I’m not sure what this means. There WAS a family of three goslings a few days ago, so maybe two babies joined them? That would explain the size difference. Either way, they are the cutest things, and also the nest near my friend’s apartment is still home to a few unborns. Updates when they hatch!

Big Sky episode 12 music – April 2021

*NOTE: for music in episode 13 (airing 4/27/2021) click here*

**NOTE: Music from episode 14 (5/4/21) can be found here**

There weren’t many identifiable songs in Big Sky, episode 12 titled “No Better Than Dogs.” However, if you are wondering about the music you heard, I’ve got answers. Here is the list of music you may have heard in this episode. For episodes 10 and 11, click here.

Jerrie sings karaoke at a bar. The song is “Gasoline and Matches” by LeAnn Rimes.

Later in the episode, U.S. Marshal Mark Lindor mentions a Hall & Oates album, more specifically, “Private Eyes”. He then mentions the track “I Can’t Go For That.”

The album was released in 1981 with this song as a single in November 1981.

I Almost Dated A Woman Who Has 3 Cats

Everything was coming up roses until it was discovered she had not one cat, not two cats, but three whole cats! Can you even imagine? OK, OK, to be clear, I have nothing against cats or the people that love them. In fact, my neighbor has a cat and I kind of like her a lot.

But…

After I pet her I must wash my hands. Yep, I’m allergic. It takes about an hour and then my eyes water and itch and I’ll start sneezing. It’s not my favorite trait about myself.

In fact…

Right at this very meowment, I’m suffering from seasonal allergies (thanks a lot tree pollen!). This woman I almost dated, I enjoyed getting to know her. But as trivial as it may seem, cats are a deal breaker. I don’t think there’s any pill strong enough to make me try a cat-owner dating relationship. And no woman can kiss good enough, either, for that matter!

Meow, before I go any further…

I HAVE dated women with cats. It just doesn’t last long… ever. The situation was flipped once. I dated a woman who was allergic to dogs. I have two dogs. It was doomed from the beginning, wasn’t it? Have you ever willingly started a relationship like that? I’m not sure why I said “willingly” because “unwillingly” would be a whole other thing… or a plot line of “Big Sky” on ABC.

Canadian Goose Update

The adult geese that live near my friend’s apartment haven’t welcomed new babies (goslings) into the world yet, but the other day I rode my bike over to see if any eggs have cracked.

Not yet! But another family of geese (a gaggle?) were zig-zagging around the small lake and grassy embankments, so here are a few pictures of the cuteness they offered. The young ones are simply adorable.

I loved to watch the babies mimic the two parents; as they adults squatted down to nibble grass, so did the little ones.

They even sort of flapped their wings although I’m guessing they don’t know yet those wings will help them fly. Come to think of it, they don’t even know what flying is!

Updates to come, thanks for stopping by!

My 5 Favorite ACM Performances 2021

Country music seems to be getting back to it’s roots (after bro-country crashed the party in the mid-2010s and disappointed a lot of fans). Just looking at a sample of the performances last night in the 5 examples below, let’s be hopeful the days of hearing snap track pop country are soon to be over! Here are 5 amazing performances from the 2021 ACM Awards held in Nashville, April 18, 2021.

1. “Maggie’s Song” Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert – Warning: you will need a box of tissues on standby for this one. If you don’t cry or at least get a lump in your throat, you are an evil person…. or you love cats (PS. check back tomorrow for my post: I almost dated a woman with 3 cats).

2. “My Savior Medley” Carrie Underwood – Carrie’s voice, need I say more? Along with CeCe Winans, I went to church Sunday morning (cheers Church at Avenue South) AND Sunday night. I love how Carrie’s voice is somehow stronger at the end of this long medley than it is at the beginning. The songs she mashed together are a sweet reminder of the gospel hymns a lot of us grew up on.

3. “Pride (In the Name of Love)” Dierks Bentley with The War & Treaty – A bluegrass version of a great U2 song? Yes, please! Dierks nailed it and so did The War & Treaty, but I’m just going to say it… there’s something hot about a woman who plays the steel guitar. There’s something hot about a woman who plays the banjo. With that awkwardness out of the way, the entire performance was great.

4. “Wine, Beer, Whiskey” Little Big Town – I love this group! Ever since “Boondocks” and following along with their career while I was working at CMT, they are consistently great performers and the nicest people you will ever meet in country music. Not to mention, the band playing with them here was fun and festive. Listen for the trumpets throughout and your ears will thank you. One question: How did they block off that much of Broadway from the thousands of people always there? Downtown Nashville is back to pre-pandemic days with the crowds and while it’s a challenge to drive around down there, it’s nice to be back!

5. “Bunch of Nothing” Eric Church – When I’m 95 years old looking back on all the music from this century, Eric Church is going to be one of my all-time favorite artists. He’s a great performer and seems to be in is own lane on the edge of mainstream and outlaw. I love his style, mannerisms, and performances. This is another good one right in line with who he is. Enjoy!

Did you have favorite performances not on this list? If so, chime in below, and as always, thanks for stopping by!
